Another day in Williams, AZ

Bill covered the steps with outdoor mats - don't think I ever took a picture of them.
It is very cold here in Williams this a.m. – part of the problem was I was up at 3:30! Bill got up and asked me if I was crazy, shivered and went back to bed. We’ve had the little electric heater running all night but it is just barely keeping the chill off. I know one thing I am going to do today. I’m going to take my sweats out of the bedroom and put them in the cupboard in the bathroom so I’ll have them for early morning.
This RV is going to take a lot of getting adjusted to. I need to figure out how to use some of the shallow cupboards efficiently. Of course we didn’t put much stuff in here for this short trip. When we load up to go for the winter just the amount of “stuff” will keep the things from shifting.
Full daylight now at 5:45. Thermometer reads about 35° outside. (I’m using my laptop which has Windows 8.something on it and it just took me five minutes to find the degree symbol.) And the mouse we bought yesterday is defective – the right click key doesn’t. So I have to remember to use the right click key on the laptop…might try to find another mouse somewhere in town today. Maybe one of the dollar stores has some.
We have the new fancy flat darkened windows – but discovered they only open out a couple of inches. Be interesting to see how much air flow that will allow.
Also not used to the engine noise. In the Alfa it was in the back and we could barely hear it run. Now it is right up front – put off a lot of heat too. We have DirectTV and so far have not been able to program the remote to control the volume and off and on of the TV. The TV is some weird brand that isn’t listed in the Direct TV codes. So yesterday I managed to screw it up – went to turn the volume down using TV remote and instead changed the channel and lost the signal. Took a while to figure that out. The dinette table is adjustable in height – so it can be put down level with seats for sleeping. During the rough roads yesterday the lock came loose. As I was typing and kind of leaning on the table it was slowly moving down. Weird sensation until I figured it out. Back up to right height now and locked in place.
I only stubbed my toe once getting out of bed in the middle of the night. Will be careful from now on. I think I woke up the neighbors when I hollered OUCH.
And why was I up in the middle of the night? Well my infection has come back in force. Luckily I have a prescription from new doctor, just in case. I just hope there is a pharmacy here in Williams.
Just a couple more pictures from yesterday.
A car parked in front of a gift shop
Just a small amount of the STUFF in that gift shop
And Elvis is leaving the building.

Later in day – when Bill got up we went to Flagstaff.  Stopped at a Camping World and got short [12”] tension bars for our narrow cupboards and seat belt clips to keep the belts off our necks.
Then out to breakfast of course. Next stop WalMart. Our new prescription program includes WalMart so dropped off the script and did some shopping. Found a couple pair of shorts – and they are a size smaller than I’ve worn for a long time. Yippie! Must be all the walking – or maybe because I’ve quit eating all kinds of snacks at night before going to bed. Got a mouse that works too.
When we got home, Bill went to take a nap – the altitude really bothers him. And I went on-line and found the code to program the Direct TV remote so we no longer have to use one to turn the TV on and change volume – just have to use the Direct TV one. So no more Oh, Ohs.
The weather today is beautiful - my kind of weather mid to high 70's. Blue, blue sky with puffy white clouds.
And a picture of the RV on it's first trip.
And my set up on the dinette.
Tomorrow we head to Monument Valley.

  1. Lots of learning for you in your new rig!

FYI - I loved the tour through the valley run by the Navajo, but watch out because that was how I hurt my back a few weeks ago. Bumping around and trying to hold on! Judy
