Ideling in Idaho
We haven't been doing much the past few days. Mainly staying out of the heat. Today is first under 100 day - it is only 98. But it did rain last night. Just enough to get the vehicles muddy.
Went to Walmart for a few things. Surprised to see Craft Brewery inside WalMart. You can get your bottles refilled here.
We are staying with friends here. Have a great spot under the trees in the shade with full hook ups. Only the trees block the satellite signal. We can get a few channels from town but not too many.
This is the view of their front driveway. Full of flowers. They are on around 8 acres.
A Koi pond with a bridge to walk out over the pond and a waterfall. You can see our RV behind it.
The waterfall, sounds really neat.
Just one of the big beautiful Koi swimming around.
On both sides and behind the house are pastures. They keep goats and sheep out there. They are all pretty much pets.
And a whole flock of chickens, each one has a name. They are funny to watch.
looking towards one of the pastures from the door of our RV
We are mostly relaxing and visiting and eating while waiting to hear from the insurance adjuster. Not a bad place to spend time.
Bill has told me in certain terms I cannot name the RV Jinx. So guess I'll have to come up with something else.

Finally came up with a name for the RV
Well we are in Boise, Idaho. Just in time for the temperatures to get to 101 degrees. Supposed to get down to high 60's at night though. Hope so.
We are staying at a friends home here. He has nice level area to park with electricity. Only problem is, he has lots and lots of trees so no satellite signal. We can get our Verizon MiFi. We'll be here for a while. We will see what we can pick up with the antenna.
Didn't take any pictures today. Only did 102 miles with a stop for gasoline. We were going to stay in an RV park but our friends invited us to stay with them. Free rent, park like setting, Koi pond, chickens and sheep how could we refuse.
Had the chip in the Jeep's windshield fixed today. Covered by insurance thank goodness. Can hardly see it.
Another 100 degree day. Ran a few errands, breakfast out, Lowes and Walmart. Then waited for windshield fix it guy.
Dealing with the LV accident. Driver of car claims the awning strut jumped out and hit his mirror.
Yah! There is more damage than it looked like at first. It is all one unit - can't replace just strut...
The name for the Jayco will be Jinx.

Visit to Minidoka National Historic Site -Japanese Concentration Camp
Friday was an interesting day. I got an e-mail from Barnes and Noble telling me I had $97 in credit because of a class action suit that had been settled. Works for me!
Late Friday night - 10 o'clock - some one either in the RV park or next door to it - started setting off fireworks - The LOUD BANG kind, then the popping kind, then the whooshing kind. Took about a half hour before they ran out. The first one was kind of scary, sounded like an explosion.
This picture was taken at 9:15 p.m. Almost like daylight.
Just before the campground there is a really neat display. It is of a sheep man, his horse and dog and a small herd of sheep.
In the background is a shepherd's wagon.
The only mural in Hagerman, it is a coffee shop.
We took a little trip yesterday - well I thought it would be a little trip. I mapped it out but didn't bother to check the mileage. Turns out it was over 40 miles - each way. Whoops. Bill kept asking me when we'd get there and I kept telling him - with my fingers crossed - soon. Almost gave up before we got there. We started at #6 to go to #7 way out in the middle of farm fields.
But it was worth the trip. We went to Minidoka National Historic Site. The remains of a WWII Japanese relocation camp. Never had any idea there was one in Idaho. In less than six months the US War Relocation Authority moved over 110,000 People into "camps."
When we saw the guard tower we knew we were there. There were eight guard towers in the camp. The camp itself was surrounded by barbed wire fences.
During the camp's occupation there was a V shaped garden in this area. It is marked out on the sign
All of the names on this Honor Roll are men and women who left the camp to serve their country - the USA.
A quote from the Honor Roll sign.
Looking out to where the main camp was.
Men were asked if they were willing to serve in the armed forces of the US on combat duty, whenever ordered.
Second question was Will you swear unqualified allegiance to the USA and defend ;the US from any or all attack by foreign or domestic forces.etc.
How they answered decided their fate No and No or Yes and Yes.
The questions were harder to answer than we would think.
Part of the military police and reception buildings are still standing. The tall narrow part is a fireplace chimney.
Military Police building -what is left of it.
The older man went to high school in the camp.
The young girl is recording his memories. She teaches about the camps so people will not forget.
Kind of a somber place. I'm glad we went but then kind of wish we hadn't. We've also been to Manzanar by Lone Pine in California.
Today we relaxed - racing and soccer games on TV and high 90 temperatures outside.
Tomorrow we head to Boise.

Snake River Hagerman, ID
Cooled down real nice last night in Jackpot. Almost had to put on a regular t-shirt this morning instead of sleeveless one. Almost!
Pilling out of RV park at 9:00 this morning.
Five minutes later we were in Idaho and it was 10:05. Have to remember we are in a different time zone again.
Don't know what happened but as soon as we entered Idaho the WIND picked up. For sure a two hand steering time. Bill had to drive on or at least real close to the center line to keep from going off the road. Crossing over the Snake River. This house has a boat garage. Rough life.
We did a whole 74 miles today. We are staying in Hagerman RV Village in Hagerman, Idaho. Just north west of Twin Falls. Nice campground. Most spaces have trees but we asked for one without so we can get TV with no problem. $28 with Good Sam discount. Long level pull through space. Parks WiFi works good. The little town is close by and has restaurants and a market and gas. Temperature at 4:30 a great 75 degrees. Is it fall here in Idaho already? This pretty green and red leaved tree in front of us.
Taking a ride to check out the scenery. Crossing the Snake River again. It seems to be really high.
See the two white dots out on the water. Got a closer look at one of them a little further on.
Oh, Oh that is not a cloud. Looks like a wild fire and it must have just started as we came in this way not too long ago.
Some information about the area.
This is interesting. Explains the water falls we saw.
This is one side of the highway.
This is the other side. A perfect day to walk by the river. Except for the wind which is almost strong enough to blow me over.
Hopefully this will enlarge when you click on it. The white streak across the water is a big waterfall and there are three smaller ones to the left of it.
The big water fall again and three smaller ones to the right too.
A closer look at some of them. No boats on the river. The wind was blowing and the river flowing really fast.
A closer look at the three smaller ones.
And a close look at one of the white pelicans - in Idaho on the Snake River. Had no idea there would be pelicans in Idaho, let alone white ones.
Just another view of the river and water falls. So peaceful here. There is also an RV park just next to where we are - right on the river. Next time through here we'll stay there.
The big waterfall coming down the mountain. The barn is on an island and belonged to the first women to have a ranch and breed cattle in Idaho. If we figure out how to get over there we can tour the barn.
I like this sign board for this church.
Stopped for lunch at the River Boat in downtown Hagerman. Only people in there. Good curly fries.
The outside of the restaurant. All the vehicles belong to patrons of the bar.
Was watching NASCAR practice in Sonoma, CA and my driver #18 the M & Ms car hit a jack rabbit on the track. Did some damage to the underside of the car. He said he tried to miss it but the rabbit just stopped and turned around.
And while we were out driving around a car passed us and threw a rock into the Jeep's windshield. So now we have a nice big chip in it. Almost looks like a bullet hole. GRRRR...
