We are in Monument Valley

We left Williams around 8:45 this morning, stopped in Flagstaff for fuel then headed on towards Monument Valley. Got here to Gouldings RV Park at 1:00 our time - 2:00 their time. Need to remember to change watch!
I have mentioned several time how bad the Interstate 40 is - this is one of the "not so bad" parts. And we complain about Mexico.
A sign of the times I guess. Too bad.
Driving north on Highway 160 we started to see some of the red rock.
Between the spot on my camera lens and the bugs on the windshield these pictures look like they have measles. These two were just sticking up in the middle of nowhere.
 King of the mountain.
Kind of reminds me of Venus de Milo. Blurry cause I was trying to catch it before we got past it.
Out of Arizona time into Mountain time.
We got parked and all set up at the very expensive campground then went to the Goulding's Lodge for lunch in the restaurant.
Always good with a beautiful view overlooking the Valley.
Then we took a short drive into the Valley. The fee is good for more than one day. [at least it used to be - forgot to ask this time.]
I took some pictures and as an experiment put them into a slide show. Added some music. Hope it works. The road in the park is a lot rougher than in previous years. And a couple places that are about 12" of just red dust. Willie slipped and slid a little.
One shot looks like it is washed out but that is white dust from the car in front of us. Will take lots more pictures in the days to come.

  1. Carol, you weren't kidding when you told me that I should see Monument Valley. Stunning too see in your pictures, I can only imagine what it must be like in person. I will see for myself one day soon for sure. Nice work on the slideshow. Travel safe and be well.
