Well the saga of the watch has ended. After all this time it could not be repaired. Just too old. The end. But yesterday my watch quit working so we had to go over there to get a new battery put in. So now it is working again. So these pictures are from that trip across town.
A fresh fruit vendor walking down the sidewalk.
A couple of new Carnival statues on the Malecon. Called Mechanical Grasshopper.Just a different view of it.
I've posted him before, but first time I caught the name. I guess some things just can't be translated. In English - Fantastic Biolocomoiora.
Another new one. And another strange translation Desire in the Firmament. Firmament = the heavens or the sky when regarded as a tangible thing. Okay. So here is just a colorful old building.
A group of flowers on one of the trees in Centro. Beautiful.
I've always liked this old house. Now there are a few shops on the first floor. One is an Italian ice cream shop. Nope didn't stop there.
You see the strangest things in the strangest places.
Here we are at the watchmaker and he is fixing my watch. He told Bill to come back today as he might have found a movement that would work.
We had to park in a parking lot cause this car was where Bill usually pulls up to run into the watchmaker's shop.
The street that was torn up is now fixed.
We walked around a little bit. The big gazebo in the main Plaza by the cathedral.
Looking inside it. It at one time was a restaurant. Looks like it is being cleaned up. Maybe will be a restaurant again.
The Cathedral across the street.
Man getting his shoes shined.
Different look at the church.
The bell ringer. It was 11:30 and he was actually pulling the bell rope.
Job done.
A pretty blooming tree on the grounds of the church.
Some things for sale across the street.
Resting under one of the trees.
Ice cream for sale under the blue umbrella.

This is not something I expected to see. A street vendor selling clothes for dogs.
Park where ever you can and get your car washed while you shop.
Starting to crack down on cars parked where there are No Parking signs along the narrow streets in Centro.
Here is another one. Car has ticket under windshield wiper.
Just up the block a store that rents beautiful evening/event ware. Sorry for the reflection, but you can get an idea of how pretty this is.
They rent men's suits also.
Another dress in the window on the side.
Interesting. Guess you can buy any thing here.
Today we went to Centro for the last time this trip. We leave tomorrow morning. But don't worry I have pictures from today. And a tail about our police encounters. Starting to crack down on cars parked where there are No Parking signs along the narrow streets in Centro.

The older buildings are so much prettier than the new ones. They have personality.
Water waiting for a car to be washed. Interesting. Guess you can buy any thing here.
And then we got back to the car. Even the buildings that are falling apart are pretty in their own way. This is the parking lot wall.
Hey remember I was telling about the suit of Armour that I wanted to buy at a flea market in Indiana. Regretted not buying it. And I see 2 of them here in today's blog... Safe Travels. Hope we can do it again next year.
ReplyDeleteLoved all the photos. In the first picture is there a “roof” over the fruit vendors tray of fruit? Sure could use them over the trays of donuts and flan we see being sold here on the beach. Traveling mercies all the way home.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait for the police tales!!
ReplyDeleteOh wow. I thought "we" still had a few weeks before you guys left Mazatlan. Travel safe!
ReplyDeleteMark, if you do take your bus ride to centro - go look at the armour. It is across the street from the government building.
ReplyDeleteSandy - I think that fruit is in a plexiglass case. Sometimes I wonder about the food just on a tray and what has been crawling on it.
Gumo - sorry the police tales weren't too exciting.
Doug and Nancy. we just want to go home. Been a long time away.
