Wow the last day of October already. Where has the year gone? We started out our day here by going to breakfast at Chihuahua's. I cannot pass this mural without taking a picture of it. So yes you've all seen it several times before. The entrance to the restaurant. We both had French Toast for breakfast and Mexican coffee - Olla.
We decided to take a quick trip to the larger town of Guaymas. Always a pretty ride over there. The road runs across the bay from San Carlos.
This wasn't here in the Spring. A two container home. I'd like to see the interior.
Into the outskirts of Guaymas a fruit/vegetable truck. He has been in this same place for many years. So must do a good business. He is parked right by a BIG tope so every one has to slow way down there. Probably helps his business.
Just barely saw this in time to catch a quick picture of it. Didn't know there would be some in Guaymas. Saw another one but couldn't get a picture of it.
He was performing for money during the red lights. Saw one car give him some change.
Christmas is coming.
A couple of the old buildings that have survived along the main street.
Lots of food and trinket vendors along the streets. The stores with the red signs are both shoe store, same company
Looking across the harbor at the church. We drove over by it but no where stop and park.
The Guaymas sign along the Malecon. Strange metal sculpture. Can just make out the sea horse bench.
Another one of the weird birds.
A whale sculpture in front of what I though used to be a music school. Maybe it is something else now.
The plaza in front of the church. Looks like the Catrina is haven a wardrobe malfunction. The green material, I think, was its skirt. Or maybe will be its skirt. Day of the Dead is tomorrow so hope it is dressed by then.

Back on the main street. Maybe they are working on restoring this beautiful old building. I hope so.
Unfortunately this one is just falling apart. Every more and more of it is gone.
Traffic is always busy on this street. And every one wants to change lanes at least three times on every block.
One stretch of the road has many, many familiar restaurants and stores - from KFC to WalMart.

Didn't even stop at WalMart.  Later we went out for dinner at La Palapa again. I had shrimp tacos with salsa and guacamole. Very, very good. Ate to much. Bill had an Italian pizza in a Greek restaurant in Mexico. Stopped at the local market for a few things and realized we should have stopped at WalMart. Will do that before we are on the road again. A pleasant day.

  1. Love the mural. Looks like an interesting town. Loving your posts since you've been on the road. Makes me envious.

  2. So sad to see that building deteriorate. However I must say I would have looked twice at the container home. Very creative.
