An OMG I don't believe it post.

We were in Centro again on Thursday. And noticed they were painting the Cathedral again. Talk about an OSHA nightmare. Of course we had to stop and watch. Many years ago we watched the Cathedral being repainted. Discovered then that it isn't blocks, it is gray paint with white lines painted on to give impression of blocks. A lot of work. Notice the column is half painted and the area to the right of the column is solid gray. The guys in the bottom corner are getting ready to lift a scaffold to the top of the building. Yes, LIFT.

Starting to pull the ropes to lift it up. Several cans of paint on it. Oops - need to both pull at the same time.
Guys in blue and green shirts are doing the heavy lifting, Guy in red shirt helping to guide it and also pulling a rope.
Slowly going up. Straighten it out!
There you go, nice and steady
Pulling hard.

The last hard pull and success. It is stopping just below window...
Up there! But how are they going to get up to it to work?
I guess he is Googling it!
Al ready to go. We started to walk away when a guy in a red hoodie stuck his head over the roof. We stopped to see what was going on. What happened next is a breath holder!
YEP he climbed over the wall and started down to the scaffold.

Well he made it.
Going over to check the ropes I guess.
Cannot even imagine walking or working on that. there is something over the bottom pipes on the floor of the scaffolding, maybe some kind of wire net or plastic. He can stand on it.
We did leave then to go to Central Market for a while. More ladders for painting.
That is one tall ladder. Notice the wall is solid gray. Guess these guys are going to paint the block lines.
On our way back we stopped to watch again. OMG.
He is leaning to his right to paint the trim. He is wearing a harness now.
Check out this painter. On his short tilted ladder. One foot on ladder other leg through hole standing on building.  Long reach for the roller.
Going up another step.
Now his left leg is just hanging in the air. So safe.
Back to our friend on the scaffolding. Well barely on the scaffolding.
Had to close my eyes for a second when he leaned way out.

Climbing back onto the scaffolding floor. I'm breathing again.
And then we left as we had an errand to do. If you are around Centro check on their progress. We were talking and wondered if these brave men were volunteers or paid workers. After all it is the Cathedral they are painting and usually members of the church volunteer to do the upkeep. Was interesting to watch. Bless and take care of them until they finish.
So this is my second blog of the day. So check out the first one just below it.
