Ugh I am up way too early, but am going to bed early too. Hard to stay up when he is trying to sleep. So today will probably a two blog postings day. One now and one this afternoon. Or else I'll get too far behind. I can't help it I like the smiley piggy head.
Wednesday we made another trip to Centro by pulmonia to pick up Bill's glasses, yes he got glasses. But on the way there I got a better shot of this mural. Interesting.
This mural used to go across the whole wall to the corner. But the cement it was painted on has all chipped away. Too bad it was a vibrant one.A shot of the cathedral. Pretty blue sky, few wispy clouds. Again the weather was PERFECT!
Wonder what he was doing, it looked like he was sketching the government building. He was very intent what ever it was.
So Bill picked up his glasses and he is very happy with them. They make things in the distance clearer. Nothing can be done for close work like reading. When he asked the doctor, at my prodding, if he could drive wearing while wearing the glasses. The expression on Eduardo's face was interesting. He kind of tilted his head, blew air into his cheeks and ummmed. Bill finally got him to say well maybe, if he was really careful because things will appear closer than they really are. Sounds like a maybe NO to me.
Stopped at this ice cream stand to talk to the young man dishing out the ice cream. His grandfather started this stand 83 years ago and they been in business since then. His grandfather comes by every day to check up on things.
Just a utility box on the corner by the new parking garage. Yesterday I saw a couple more that are painted one with pelicans. Need to look for them.
Stuck our head in the old building that is being restored. They have added a small coffee bar. This is a table, only about one third of it. Gorgeous piece of wood. There was a meeting of restorers going on. This is a really big project. As is my future blog on it. Someday I'll get all the pictures in order.
Heading towards the Plazuela Machado we passed the Indians (I know not PC) that dance there when a cruise ship is in.
Looking up at the detail work on the upper part of the building.
This is a huge home. It is for sale for US$800,000. It is about 2/3rds restored and the bottom floor is shops. We lucked into a tour of it a few years ago when we met the owner. Amazing inside. They did such beautiful work years ago.
Just something that caught my eye. The deer, The hole and the weed.
The Juarez building in the Plazuela Machado. Mostly closed during the day but has lots of restaurants in it. Much prettier at night.
This man has a baby in a stroller and the older boy is trying to sell bracelets. Lots of people buying them.
Again we stopped at Gaia for lunch. Pleasant place to sit eat and people watch.
Warm bread and delicious butter. I ate almost all of the bread and I usually don't eat bread.
My salad - isn't it pretty? Thin slices of cucumber form a circle with the lettuce and fruit - strawberries, mango and grapefruit and oranges in the middle. That is caramelized pineapple on the top. It is a treat for the tastes. Almost too pretty to eat. But I managed to eat it all, including the cucumber.
Bill's Caesar chicken salad. It is in a toasted tortilla bowl.
Looks like a tour is visiting the area.
Mounting up and heading out. All ages. I feel like I would fall forward and kill myself. Or at least get a bloody nose.
They are doing construction next to this tree in the wall. For years there was an oil painting on the wall to the left of the tree. Last year someone tore it down and took it.

The exterior of an empty building. It is now the parking lot we usually park the Jeep in.
Much to our surprise it has been completely paved. Used to be dirt and gravel.
See the blue building in the above picture. Every time we parked there I checked to see if there was laundry drying in the window, there always was. As there was yesterday. Just something that caught my eye. The deer, The hole and the weed.

On our way to the Observatory look out point. Radio tower hill or Ice Box Hill.
Heart lookout point. Don't remember seeing this statue there before. Will have to check who it is.
Part of Mazatlan skyline.
See the cable car coming down the track. We plan on going here to the Observatory probably next week.
See the shadow Bill is standing in. It is a light post - it used to have wiring and globe lights in it, now it just has the rings.
So that was our day Wednesday. We went home around 3 and stayed there the rest of the day. If I get a chance I might post another blog with some OMG footage.

I agree with Kathy, we are all enjoying "our" time in Mazatlan with you!
I agree with the above posts. Carol’s camera catches so many little interesting things we otherwise would miss. Thank you so much for sharing your photos and commentary with all of us, Carol, I look forward to each new blog.
We agree also! So wonderful that you and Bill are sharing your winter with us!
