Got almost to 90 degrees today

I hope this is just an anomaly - the 90 degree weather so early in March. Luckily by next Monday it is supposed to go back to normal in high 70's low 80's.  I went out in the garage to take some pictures of the glass project and it was too hot to stay out there. 

So here are the pictures. This one just shows the wood and metal pieces I put around the window to keep the pieces together as they are cut and shaped. About 1 3/4 inches from the wood pieces in will be the border glass that I finally got. You can barley see the lines for the border. 

This is the border glass, it is transparent with a knobby texture and with strips and dots of yellow glass scattered through out it. Very expensive and hard to cut. It likes to break when trying to cut strips. So fingers crossed.

Not a good picture but can see the wood and metal strips. They are not part of the finished window, they just hold the pieces together when working on it. The center piece is done as far as cutting and shaping and tacking together. Then there will be a whole bunch of different colors between it and the borders. Each piece has to be cut shaped and fitted in. Then they all have to have copper foil covering the raw edges, then soldered together. 

It will eventually look something like this. This is the one I made years ago to cover a broken front window in Indiana. But gives an idea of how it will look. It will be about 22 x 32 when finished. Someday. See the leaf and butterfly. There is stuff in front of it so couldn't get the whole piece in the picture. 

My poor little plant I thought the gardener killed is finally starting to show some signs of life. One little bud on it so guess he meant it when he said it would be fine in a week or two. (the green is a stem from a bougainvillea)

And that is all that has been going on around here today. Not sure if I'll walk tomorrow or not. My foot is really bothering me. Will see in the morning, I really want to see the rest of the art? in the wetlands.

Another 10,000 step day

Yep, went walking this morning again and now at 5:30 I'm up to 10,897 steps. And my one foot is yelling at me. It has till Friday to rest. But Friday is looking iffy for a very long walk. Check out our weather for the next week. It may be too warm for me already at 8:30. I'll start out but will head home if too hot. Saturday I plan on watching NASCAR most of the day so don't care how hot it gets. 

I am getting ready to work on my stained glass project. We went across town this afternoon to pick up the glass I ordered. Wow sticker shock. But I bought the whole 32 x 20 sheet and it is special glass. Also it is hard to cut without it breaking. So here is what I'm going to be working on. It has been on my cutting bench for the winter. 

I moved it to the work table so I can start working on it. The center piece is done enough to work around it with bits and pieces of different colored glass. There are also two green leaves in two of the corners and there will be two small butterflies in the other two corners. Then all surrounded by the border glass I just picked up.You can see where the border goes and the two leaves. So still lots and lots to be done. 

On our way over to pick up the glass the helicopters that go to the Grand Canyon were coming in for landing. They were flying straight down the street heading right towards us until the turn into the airport. Weird feeling. Not too high off the ground. 

Coming home just snapped a couple of buildings on the strip. I like the reflection in the one. 

And of course had to get a picture of the Eiffel Tower.

Then to market and on home. Fixed Orange Chicken (out of a frozen box) and noodles and stir fried vegetables. Quick, easy and good for dinner. And that's all our news.

 More of Monday's walk in The Wetlands to see the art. We were calmly walking up this dirt path. When suddenly around the corner came...

This fire department truck. First time I've ever encountered a full sized vehicle in there. 

A little further on we encountered this. Interesting. I kind of like what it says. The artist and his "statement" 

Brian Gibson - Formerly expressing himself as a musician, in 2014 Gibson found greater solace in visual art. Guided solely by intuition (for better or worse), one could look at Gibson’s journey as a testament to the power in simply “showing up” consistently.
He is currently working towards submitting to more local art calls, and hopes to become more involved in the local arts community at large. It is in his interest to be as honest and uninhibited as possible, when creating works. Total stream of consciousness work is quite hard to articulate sometimes, but its effect is not lost on the viewer. He hopes to keep pushing that boundary.

I hope I have this "statement" with the right art and artist. 

Now this is a statement. At first I thought - strange piece of art. Then I noticed the big hole under it. Oh well. 

This was next to the HOLE sign. Really like it. Kind of whimsical. They are plastic balls, at first I thought they were balloons.  

Wendy Armitage - With this piece I wanted to explore the theme of migration abstractly.  I hope to show movement of the changing seasons through a color gradient.

Since Saturday when the other walkers were here to Monday when I took this picture - the graffiti was added. 

We continued to walk hunting for the different displays of art. This one was a real surprise. First the small splash of bright red flowers. Then the whole display came into view. 

Holly Lay - Statement: Since the rise of social media, I have become increasingly interested in how this affects people and their identities. As tech continues to grow, change and monopolize, this changes the way I make my work and therefore changes the outcome and concepts rapidly. I am concerned with how I can bring these ideas into a physical realm off the screen. As a multidisciplinary artist, I explore themes of kitsch, pop & cyber culture, and the history of textiles. I am interested in creating installations that make the viewer question the concepts of reality and interaction. As technology advances this work will continue to evolve and grow as I navigate my own relationship to fine art vs craft, social networks, consumerism and digital reproduction.

A closer look. I forget what this technique is called but I made a couple of rugs like this years ago. 

Near the end of our walk we came across this bird. All by himself. 

Vezune - With my artwork, I explore my hidden inner dimensions. I pursue the ambiguous roots of my thoughts and feelings in my artistic practice. I use various media and mix these often. I strive to create work that people identify with and connects with them on a deeper unconscious level.

Heading towards home a good view of Mount Charleston. Still lots of snow up there. 

Tomorrow we'll go back and see the rest of the art. 

Well last night I made vegetable lasagna. We did eat dinner. But the leftovers and recipe both just went into the trash. It was not really bad, it just wasn't lasagna! Between the cheeses, noodles and the Beyond meat it was an expensive meal to throw out. 

Today worked on gathering tax stuff and doing laundry. No cooking tonight.
