Well hello again. After a day of rest we made up for it yesterday. Got in over two miles of walking around Centro. But to regress. Bill had rather a quiet day on Monday. After three nights in a row out he and me were tuckered out. So the only thing we did Monday was go out to dinner at Pancho's. This was Bill's dinner. The "ears" are very thin slices of sweet potato deep fried. They are delicious, I stole and ate them. Easy dinner for him to eat. Chicken milensea and mashed potatoes.
This used to be a big empty field, over the years they have added lots of relaxing areas to it.
The ocean was two distinct colors yesterday, turquoise near shore and blue further out.
We sat right next to big open windows overlooking the beach and ocean. Love going there. Nice breeze. A fishing boat going by.
A big sail boat way out there. You can see where the color of the water changes close to shore. Leaving we stopped to enjoy the iguanas. This guy was bright green. I took pictures of four more of them. But one iguana picture is probably enough when I have a lot of pics I want to share today.
Ordered an Uber to take us to Centro Historico. I avoided the tope going through the parking. I still have some swelling on the knee but the scabs have finally come off and the skin is pink and shinny now. Also some bruising still left down the leg. I was lucky. Just a pretty well cared for building we past heading into town.
And another one. Some sort of business I guess with the sign.
The Uber let us off right where we wanted to go. Rueben's bakery. He has changed the name of it but the pastries are the same. YUM YUM. We didn't get there until early afternoon so were lucky to buy the LAST two cinnamon rolls. Missed Rueben though as he and family are on Vacation for another week or so. Bill seems to remember that his wife's name is the name of the Bakery now. They live upstairs.
Another restored building. So nice to see more and more being restored and used. We were walking to the central market.
Umm - maybe it is just me, but not sure I want to buy shrimp that are on a cart next to the street on a warm day. The white bags behind the shrimp are marshmallows.
We enter into the market through the mostly clothing sections. One of the shop owners we have know for a long time. She wondered why we hadn't been in for so long. Used to buy a lot of my blouses at this place. Love the embroidery but now most of it is machine done. The ones I have are hand done.
Lots of little eating areas and we are headed towards the fruit and vegetable stands. Almost all the flooring has been redone.
Kind of a shelf stable store. Rice, pasta, spices, condiments etc.
To the fruit and vegetable section and lots of different little stands, it smells so good. Unlike home you can smell every different fruit or vegetable.
Of course I had to go visit the smiling piggies heads. Any thing pork you would want. Didn't make it to the chicken vendors. Getting too crowded and hot in the market.
Back out on the street passing some vendors. Did he want something, was she thinking about getting it for him?
No idea, puffer fish? sitting in an upside down table. Lots of looky loos no one stopped to long.
Bill talking to one of the shoe repair men in the big plaza. Asking him if he could dye a pair of shoes for me. I have two brand new pair of white sandals, but no new black ones. So he will dye the white one black for us. Just have to remember to take it next time we go to Centro. I have more pictures - lots more from our excursion yesterday, but will not be going any where during the day today. NASCAR race today I want to watch.
So until tomorrow. Oh yes, almost forgot. Got my heart beating quickly this morning when I went to put the receipt from last nights dinner in the spreadsheet. It was 10,893 pesos WHAT!!! So we went to the restaurant to make sure it really wasn't charged to us. And of course I couldn't get through to our bank. So went to restaurant. Nope it was charged to a different card. Our bill was right. We just got the wrong receipt. Heart calming down.

Bill picking out some tangerines.
1walked over for a quick look in the meat market. They will cut your piece for you with a great big sharp knife. A lot different than what we see in a Supermarket at home.Of course I had to go visit the smiling piggies heads. Any thing pork you would want. Didn't make it to the chicken vendors. Shrimp and marshmallows. What could possibly go wrong?
