Saturday and Sunday

When I posted the blog yesterday morning everything was fine until I tried to post a link on Facebook. Then I got this message from Facebook. "Your message couldn't be sent because it includes content that other on Facebook have reported as abusive."
Cannot figure out what was Facebook's problem. My PG blog abusive??? Maybe it didn't like the names of the trucks. Weird.
Bill has a flight simulator for his RC planes - he couldn't see the plane when flying it on his computer screen. We had a TV out in the shed so in it came to hook up to his computer. Sounds easy right? Well maybe for you but not for us. First we had to make a trip to Best Buy to buy a HDM1 cable??? But neither end of the cable would go into the computer. So then we had to buy an adapter with a USB connection to plug the cable into. On home. Okay the adapter was in the computer, the HDM1 cable was in the adapter - Oh oh, now it had to be plugged into the TV which was already on the wall. [Getting it on the wall was another story, which also created a need to go to WalMart to get the bracket to hang it- the day before.] So Bill had to get up on the table and take the TV down so we could plug the cable in. Loaded the software - not working. Read instructions again. Reload software. Hum...maybe cable should be plugged into the other HDM port. Ah Ha now we had a picture on the TV. But it was only the screen wallpaper - no way to run the program. Also when it loaded it screwed up Bill's laptop. To make a long story a little shorter. We gave up on the laptop and loaded and plugged into his PC. Now we had wallpaper and sound on the TV. Finally after much fooling with drop down menus it was working. Took all of the morning. Exhausted us both. Oh yes, TV had to go back up on wall. I'm too old for this. Bill finally able to play with his flight simulator.
I watched a race and he played. Then bless him, he fixed a delicious dinner of cheese stuffed, bacon wrapped chicken breasts, potatoes and salad. Quiet evening.
Up before the sun again this morning. Kind of pretty sunrise. Very still out, no wind. Another nice day temperature wise too.
This morning I decided I'd better start walking again. Put my shoes on and grabbed my camera. In front of our house. Notice two lots are still empty and the one new house on that side of street is for sale, but has no landscaping.
Bill came out to join me but it was still pretty cool out and I'd forgot to put on my Fitbit so we ended up getting in the car and going out to breakfast. Stuff the walk.
After breakfast we went over to the RC airfield. As you can see it was a beautiful day.
Came home and Bill hung up some of the metal sculptures we bought in Mexico. Also put out his parrot. The other day I got some more artificial flowers for the pots. Colorful patio.
I watched NASCAR and he read until end of race which he watched with me. Fixing corned beef, potatoes, carrots and cabbage for dinner since we missed Saint Patrick's Day.
Maybe one of these days we'll get our DVD and speakers hooked up to our living room TV. Something else we should have done before hanging the TV on the wall in the living room. Live and learn.

Friday was a busy day

A cloudy cool going to be windy day. Yesterday was cool too. I loved it. Did get a lot done yesterday. I finished the label for the quilt for our 8th great grandbaby. Now just have to get it mailed.
It is a Sampler Quilt. All the blocks are different patterns.
I also got the beads to fringe and bead the t-shirt I bought in Mazatlan. This particular shirt was the most popular one in Mazatlan this year,. Saw it every where. At one shop I saw it fringed and beaded but only for children. So I bought a regular one and figured I'd bead it at home. Now it is done. Debating doing the sleeves too.
And I remembered that I had some beautiful frames in the closet so I dug one out - Bill made it years ago and framed my print I bought at the Art Walk. Next year I will get the companion print. Same couple and location, different pose. Guess I should have used the flash . The frame is maple burl.
We had to run out to the store and as we were leaving I remember the Monster Trucks were at Sam Boyd stadium so we drove by to see if we could see any of them. Yep we could. We couldn't get inside the gate but got a few clear pictures. They sure are BIG.
This one has it's back wheels on top of a car.
Stinger.
These are all Grave Digger getting air over a mound of dirt. All attached to the ones in front of and behind them.

Grave Digger being admired.
I like the teeth, tail and ears.
After getting home from store I of course watched NASCAR from California. #18 qualified 9th. Not real good but the car is fast.
We also called the handy man over to look at our roof. He suggests calling the insurance company to see if they will repair it. He says a lot of it is wind damage but it is an old roof - but worth a try.
Willie, the Jeep, is spending the weekend at the mechanics waiting for his new front shocks to get there [had to be special ordered] and be put in. Sticker Shock! Wish we could have had them done in Mexico.
No plans for today - except NASCAR - too windy for Bill to play with his planes. Guess where they are parked - in the dining room...
doesn't really go with my spring table setting.

A couple of our boys made the big candle sticks next to the plant when they were in junior high.

Hobbies are keeping us busy.

Yesterday just slipped by. Still catching up on things from the winter. Finally picked up our mail and sorted it all out. What needed attention got it. Phew that's done.
Everyone always says to us "Aren't you afraid to go to Mexico?" Well the answer is no, but Vegas is getting scary. 34 homicides already this year.
Weather has cooled way down, 50 degrees this morning, with highs the rest of the week in mid to low 70's and maybe rain tomorrow. We didn't get any of the rain the other day, just cloudy skies.
We have spent a few trips to the hobby shop - CLEAR across town from where we live. In the same building complex I discovered this amazing quilt shop. So while Bill was talking airplanes, controllers and radios I stopped in here. OMG. He can spend all the time he wants in the hobby shop as long as I can go here.
It is huge inside. Lots and lots of material - nice material - a little too nice for me maybe $12.95 a yard material. Same quality I bought in Mexico for $4.90 a meter. But everything I could ever want. They have a teaching room and classes for different things every month. Very friendly staff. Just a couple of pictures of a small part of the space.

Saw these - they are about 8 x 12 and are 3-dimensional! I want to learn how to make them. Drool drool!
I always see something interesting as we drive around town. Eye pleasers. And we got all the way from our house to across town with no orad construction or orange cones. Did run into some on the way home though. A lot of the center dividers are being revamped. Live plants being removed replaced by metal sculptures. These tow are life size across from a golf course. I took the pics the day it was real cloudy and gray out. Will try for better ones next time we go by.

In this section the plants are metal as is the coyote. I missed the quail and her babies and the raven.
Saw this van parked in a garage while at a stop light. Talk about a close fit. I wonder if he parks it by sound. Or if the driver weighs enough to make it lower when they get in.
Yesterday's sunrise. This morning it was blah, no clouds. If you're wondering why no sunsets - the are hard to get good pictures of because of the homes on our west side.
I finished the label for our 8th grand baby's quilt, have to put it on the quilt and decide if I'm gong to quilt more of the quilt. Or leave it like it is. I made the quilt before we left as knew she was coming.
Our HOA sent us another yearly letter. We need to pull the weeds and fix the roof. Weeds got pulled before we got letter. I don't like them either. We really need to get a new load of rocks. No mention this time about the pine needles or pine cones...Also we need repair on our roof. One corner peeled up during the winter. Have to call the guy to come over and check it out. We have also sprayed the rocks [yard] with weed killer.

Las Vegas Sunrises

Good Morning! The sun this morning has just come up over the Wetlands. For the past three days we've had really nice sunrises. This one was from Monday.
Yes, for some reason we've both been up and about before the sun.
Monday was a busy day, full of errands and still putting stuff away. But Bill did manage to find a hobby shop catering to Radio Controlled Planes. They were so accommodating!  Even signed him up for the Academy of Model Aeronautics that you have to belong to to use the RC airfields here. Also very nicely went on line and got him his FAA registration number. And so went Monday afternoon. Is he buying something? Of course, a Flight Simulator for his computer. Oh, but he got a black t-shirt foer "nothing."
Fixed our first at home dinner Monday night. Nice to have room to cook.
This is yesterday's sunrise. And that is about all I saw of the day.

Wasn't one of my better days. Guess I'd done too much the prior days and my body said - enough! Or maybe it was my own cooking...Spent a good portion of the day either laying down reading or sleeping. He fiddled with his simulator and went to the RV to get his tools and a couple of things we forgot.
Both Monday and Tuesday were in the high 80's. Now the weather is changing. Lots of clouds rolling in and temps dropping to highs of low 70's. Rain expected later today, maybe tomorrow and again on Saturday. This mornings sunrise. Not quite as vivid.
And guess what FedEx delivered yesterday! Guess he will soon be moving from the simulator to the real thing. Won't be able to go out this weekend - rain and lots of wind and the flying park right near us is next to the Sam Boyd stadium and the Monster Trucks are there this weekend so the flying park is closed.
This is what that area used to look like. Guess who got all the beads! Guess I'd better get busy beading.

I feel SO much better day. Right now he is back in bed "reading" so after I finish this I think I'll set up my sewing room again. I'll be able to finish the new baby's quilt now that I have her name. Some time today I want to go to Hobby Lobby and WalMart. Befor it starts to rain.

Las Vegas is a fun town.

Boy I am worn out. We got Arvi unloaded and back in his storage place. Everything is put away here in the house. I've pulled weeds in the yard - gosh forbid they inspect! Yesterday morning up bright and early. Finished unloading before it got hot and put him back in storage. Unfortunately Bill put him back before I got to give it a good cleaning. I do have the rung here and all the shelving out of the refrigerator and all the laundry. Everything is ready to put back except the rug. Forgot about it.
After putting him in storage we went out to breakfast. Passing out main corners I noticed that the metal sculptures that come and go on that corner have changed again. These sunflowers were there when we left but they were scattered not in a bunch. Now they are together. The turtle that was with the big one is gone.
This is unusual. I got decent pictures of them because we HAD to get gas in the Jeep and this was the closest gas station. We have a 20 gallon and Willie took 19.7 gallons. Unleaded is around $2.50 a gallon here in Vegas.
There used to be a tall tree like sculpture but it is gone and replaced by this smaller one. No idea who puts them there.
Didn't notice the bird until I was looking at these on the computer.
From gas station we went to a Radio Control Airfield right by us near Sam Boyd Stadium. The view of the snowy mountains from the air field. I don't think I've ever seen that much snow on them.
The Radio Control Air field. Yes he is getting interested in that as a hobby. Really nice helpful people there. My bad - going to the Rainbow Garden in Quartzsite with the RC airfield right next to it. Oh Well.
Then we went to WalMart to restock our refrigerator, freezer and cupboards. Wow. Came home put all that away and continued to do laundry. Sat down to watch the NASCAR race. Thought my favorite driver was going to win - then a caution. At least he finished 3rd.
Transferred all the info from laptop to my PC. Took over 5000 pictures over the winter. We put around 2300 miles on the jeep, just driving around Mexico. While in Mexico our expenses averaged $69 a day. Includes, campgrounds, fuel both vehicles, meal out [a lot of them], groceries, propane, internet, insurance, vehicle fees, souvenirs, entertainment, toll roads, upholstering RV, and miscellaneous stuff - blouses, parking/washing car, laundry etc. Did not include painting Jeep or work we had done by mechanic.
And then fell into bed.

And then we were home.

We got up early Saturday morning. But waited until the sun was well up before we left Quartzsite. The sunrise was kind of pretty.
We pulled out of the RV park at 8:00. Went up to the Flying J to fill the tank for the last leg of our journey home.
One last agricultural check passing through a little corner of California.
Uneventful trip. Warm but no wind. Thank goodness. Wind picked up in Vegas about an hour after we got home. Vegas came into sight. We were surprised at the amount of snow still on the surrounding mountains.
We pulled up in front of hour home at 12:00 - 209 miles. Luckily there were no construction trucks in the street. In fact only the two new homes they put in before we left are here. Still two empty lots.
The house was fine. Always glad to find that nothing went wrong while we were gone. After going out for lunch we spent a lot of the rest of the day unloading.  Went to bed early. Nice to be back in our big bed.
Our whole trip was 136 days long and we drove the RV 2719 miles. Don't know how many miles we put on the jeep but will look it up later.
Enjoyed our time in Mexico but glad to be home.

A hot day in Quartzsite

Well we've just discovered that the keyless locking system on the RV doesn't work. One more thing for the dealer. Why didn't we know sooner that it didn't work. Because the whole time we were in Mexico - both Mazatlan and Aticama - we didn't lock the door. But back here in RV parks in the US we make sure to lock the door. Good thing we have the key too.
I called the office at the gated community where we live to find out if the gate code would work with our new cell phones. Glad I called not only would it not work, the whole system changed over the winter so even our old phone could not open the gate. The new manager had me wait while he redid our code in the computer to the new phones. So we should be all set to get in the main gate. He also said no construction trucks should be near our home when we get there. AND he said we could take more than 24 hours to unload and clean the RV. Hum...some change going on. Wonder if they'll still complain a bout the pine needles in our back yard.
Bill fixed breakfast then we went over to the radio control section of the city park. He watched the planes and I walked around in the Rainbow Garden some more. It started as a memorial to this little girl.
Some of the cactus blooming
Some pretty purple flowers.
An old wagon.
One of the memorials, some are very elaborate. Some are just a few rocks and a name.

A small village built in the park. There was a lady there pulling weeds. Everything is volunteer. See the little outhouse.
We didn't stay out long as the temps were going up quickly.
Pretty much stayed inside the rest of the day.
Soon we will be on the road heading toward home. Will get to sleep in our own bed tonight. At least it is not sooooo hot in Vegas.
