Driving in Mazatlan

I'm being lazy today. I have a long post started about the restaurant La Vaca Lupe and I don't feel like working on it. So I'm going to share some footage from our Dash Cam.  The first one is driving through the Golden Zone and along the Malecon.  The RV park is at the red dot. The footage begins with #1 and goes to #2 About four miles total.
We were on our way to see the divers. The first video is around nine minutes long but kind of interesting. There is some sound but... I am always glad Bill is doing the driving. His attitude when driving in Mexico is "Always expect the unexpected."
And this wasn't a really busy traffic day. Mostly hotels and time shares on right side of the street. They are on the beach. Businesses and some small hotels on the left. All the tile crosswalks are new. The red trucks with the gates in the back are like taxis. The bus has the right of way - he is bigger. The bus stops where ever there is someone waving him down or wanting off. Always unexpected orange blockades here and there. The pulmonias are looking for passengers so they might just stop if they see someone walking down the street. This takes you through the Golden Zone - i.e. tourist trap - onto the Malecon.  All new pavement, center dividers and lighting. All new sidewalks and bike path. It turned out really nice.

The second video starts at the diver roundabout and continues on towards the harbor and then up a steep hill that the skateboarders used to use. Haven't seen any this year. Only about a mile and a half.
We are parked behind a food vendor in the street. We continue on down the road towards Olas Altas. Again new pavement and sidewalks and street lights. Coming up on the Deer Statue. roundabout. Past some restaurants and hotels. See all the new bubble lights on the ocean side. They are pretty at night. Starting up the narrow steep hillside. Sharp turn at the top. And then another sharp turn to a narrow street. Again new pavement. Sharp left turn some curves and then an idiot! Down and up hills to the two look out points. They were full so didn't stop. The high hill has the lighthouse on top of it. On down towards the harbor, but turning back up a hill before we reach the water. This is where the skateboarders used to play. Some great views from here.

So we continued on up this road, just going down the other side I noticed an arrow sign pointing to El Mirador. It is a great look out point and the restaurant there had just been remodeled. So we followed the sign. We were at the lower black arrow, the restaurant is at the black X and we continued on to the second black arrow on the top of the map. Some of these were one way streets...
So here is the drive up there, continuing to the top of the hill. Then we turn left to go up another street. Don't know if it was one way or not. Another left turn at the top and on to the Mirador. Too many cars and people to stop, another time. Then back down towards town.

Hope you enjoyed riding along with us.

Some times - depending on time of day - the dash cam takes good videos. I should check it more often.
