El Quelite 2nd half

Oops posted two blogs today, Friday. This was supposed to be tomorrow's blog.

Another beautiful morning in Mazatlan. Neither one of us slept really well last night, will take a while to used to the bed and pillows. And guess I was snoring as in middle of night Bill was poking me in the back hard enough to wake me up. Oh well. Right now no plans for today, but imagine we will do something.

So back to El Quelite. We all enjoyed our meals in the restaurant. So with our tummies full we decided to walk around a little. The first thing we did was buy a couple of coffee cups. The ones in the hotel only hold about two sips. So got some real ones. Big enough to get a real morning coffee - heated in our new microwave.

So back to yesterday. This house has a new paint job. Love the colors.

Even the wall that goes way back to where the tree is growing in it got painted.
A beautiful salmon colored bougainvillea plant.
We walked down to one of my favorite places. It is a hotel upstairs and a store on the bottom.
They've painted a mural on the bottom wall.
Looking back across the street to a leather shop.  Almost everyone has satellite.
Out side of the shop/hotel.
In the patio of the shop. These might be new hotel rooms.
A hotel room and interesting things for sale.
Wondered where Bill was so went looking for him. He was across the street visiting with Marcy - she used to work at the restaurant - she also was one of the waitresses who helped me clean off the iguana poop.
A carved door. Wish the picture was better. So pretty. All of the doors on the rooms are different.
Going upstairs towards the original hotel rooms.
I like all the colors and interesting textures and designs.
Another different door.
This is a pillar holding up a roof over an upstairs patio. Very interesting.
Part of the ground level patio and some of the rooms.
Back outside, heading to our ride home.
A home along the main street.
I like the steps with the tiles in them.
Many years ago when we were first coming here we met the older man who owns this piece of land. When we first met him he was riding his horse. He and Bill got talking, Bill mentioned how much we liked El Quelite - so the conversation turned to this piece of land. Why didn't we buy it and it was/is big enough we could have parked the Alfa (at the time our 40 foot motorhome) there and lived there. And he would also let Bill ride his horse. Haven't seen him for the last couple of years. and land is still empty.
And that was yesterday's trip to one of our favorite towns. Never get tired of going there and always see something I haven't seen before.
Spent part of today in Centro and had a great tour of an old building.

I am really enjoying reading your blog posts and seeing your photos again! But it sounds like you might be looking for a different hotel for your next trip to get a better bed.

El Queliteis such a delightful little town. All the color that is everywhere, buildings, furniture, clothing, food, flowers - just everywhere and everything makes you smile. Loved our few visits there. Did you visit the bakery? Have loved these post from Mazatlan and all the photos - you are in your happy place and I am so happy for you.

Kathy -We actually do have a view - of the Puebla Bonita and lots of traffic.
Sandy - We didn't go to the bakery this time. Have been there before. The rooster farm is gone! Cheese factory still there and producing cheese. Fun place
