Trip to Centro

Monday we made a trip to Centro to go to the optometrist for Bill. He kind of wanted to get a third opinion. And he trusts this man, been friends for a long time. So he had his eyes checked and got basically the same news the Retina doctor has told him. If he keeps getting shots they won't get worse for a while but probably will not get any better. But maybe distance glasses will help him a little. So he will try that and we will pick them up later this week. Then we walked up to Rueben's bakery, Artesano's, to get some cinnamon rolls and croissants. Just missed seeing Rueben, he had gone home to get some sleep as he gets up VERY early to bake.

Looks like he has hired several more people. And it was busy in there.

Then we decided we were hungry and walked back towards the Plaza Machado thinking to have breakfast at restaurant there. Passed the beautiful old building on the way. Don't know what the guys on the second floor balcony were doing but the guys on the sidewalk were putting up a long extension ladder and taking some kind of long rods out of a tube.

The restaurant we were going to no longer serves breakfast, so change of plans. We walked a couple more blocks to Via Condotti where we can sit outside and enjoy our meal.
I keep forgetting to take pictures of our meals. Remembered this time after we'd both started eating. Bill had an ham, cheese and mushroom omelet and potatoes. Said both were very good. I had French toast with strawberries, very good and too filling. And we had a fruit platter with yogurt and granola. Yummy. I was still full at supper time, so we both just snacked on baked goods last night.

The center of the tables have this nice tile in them.
Walking back to main street to catch transportation back to hotel went by this store, in one of their windows. Love them.
A closer look at the bus, notice the pig on the roof. These are Talavara tile work, all hand painted.
Still trying to get a decent picture of this one. Bill says if we were in the Jeep he would stop and I'd get a good picture. Oh well!
One of the many great murals in town. It was a cloudy day again, but nice for walking and being out. Not too hot with nice breeze.
Stayed home at night. Read and listened to the band at the Austin BBQ.

I love that building as much as you do. I did some research based on the name at the top of your photo. Me thinks that bill may need to do some translating. https://www.debate.com.mx/mazatlan/Conoce-el-edificio-mas-senorial-del-viejo-casco-de-Mazatlan-20161106-0080.html ( June 2016 ). And an update in 2023 in English...https://www.flickr.com/photos/time-to-look/52752100275/in/photostream/. And more history from 2015. https://www.noroeste.com.mx/buen-vivir/estan-fincas-en-el-olvido-IVNO80648

I love your blog and all the photos. I don't get out much - I think because of the dogs! We should be free to explore in another year.

Doug and Nancy - again thank you for reading my musings.
Contessa - thanks for the links. They continue working on the interior of the building. Yesterday they opened a small coffee shop in it.
