Been catching things up at home.

Sunrise the first morning we were home. Waking up early still on Mazatlan time. It's almost a week we've been home and I'm still having a problem with the time change. I'll probably get used to it just as it is time to change the clocks again.

Between all the unpacking, doing laundry, going through a months mail and ordering groceries and making doctor's and tax appointments I haven't thought about the blog much. So will start with this and work backward the next few weeks.
My girlfriend and I managed one walk in the Wetlands since we 've been home. Much to my surprise we did two and a half miles without me getting exhausted. But we walked slow. One of the herons in a place we've never seen one. Guess he likes being alone.
He is usually in this river. But today there were no herons but there was a white pelican. Just one though.
There is still snow on the higher mountains. The weather since we've been home has been in the mid 80's, actually warmer than Mazatlan. Cooling down now though in a few days it will be in the mid 60's. I like that better.
Also in the river this cormorant stretching his wings.
A few of the reeds and some of the trees near the ponds are thinking it is spring already and getting new green growth. Such a quiet and serene area.
The new header is a picture I took our last time we were in Centro. Almost missed it I was so surprised by what I was seeing. I have a lot more to share about our trip so I have a few more blogs to write as days pass. Today have to go and put gas in the car as tomorrow's doctors appointment is half way across town. And that's it for now.

We are home

Very short update. We are home. All planes were on schedule and arrived at destination early. Had 2 1/2 hour layover in Phoenix. Took the time to have something to eat. Arrived in Vegas a few minutes early. We both had wheelchairs all the way. Thank goodness. Our son picked up us right after we got to pick up area. Everything at home is fine. Weather will be warmer than Mazatlan! Today will be spent getting things put away, catching up on mail and ordering groceries.

Bill was exhausted by the time went to bed. Still sleeping at 8:00 a.m. Very glad to be home. also glad we went.

Have things to do like order groceries etc.

Basically just checking in.

We haven't done very much for the last couple of days. Friday Bill didn't feel well most of the day. Only went out for a meal. The prednisone really really makes him sick. He tried taking it at night but then his eyelid drooped about half way through the day. So for two days he's taken it in the morning and almost immediately gets sick. He always takes it after eating. At night he just went to bed and by morning was feeling okay. But..

These were taken Wednesday at dinner at Torres. Had to look it up.

It finished like this.
Cruise ship all lit up just came from around the island.

One afternoon when he was feeling a little better we took a short walk. I think this used to be a social club. It is closed now and she is falling apart.
This is the famous Fat Fish where we get the RIBS. Went there again on Thursday night.
This was taken, at same table and restaurant 10 years ago. Size of ribs has changed. New tables and chairs too.
The plates are now oval instead of round and the meal is more expensive. But still pretty darn cheap and very good. He looks happy.
Don't know why I was looking so weird. Wondering where to start I guess. The plate in the foreground is Marks .
So now for the elephant in the room. All the unrest in Mexico for those of you who have seen it is quite a ways away from us. Nothing is going on in Mazatlan. The airport is open and flights are going in and out. Thank goodness as we leave here tomorrow. Nothing has been set on fire and life goes on as usual.

Odds and ends

Most of these are pictures from a few days ago that I didn't get around to posting. My sandals that I had dyed black. I just have to break them in now. Will do that when I get home.

Another breakfast at Torres. As you probably guessed we like to eat there. Mainly for the friendly waiters and the atmosphere and views.
These two boats were way out by the horizon. At first I thought the one on the right was a fishing boat but looking at it better it looks like a catamaran.
This is a fishing boat, the waves are almost bigger than it.
We love watching pelicans flying inches above the water.
For a minute I thought these were going to come right in the restaurant, zoomed up and over though.  We were talking about the difference between these brown pelicans and the white ones we see at home.  The brown pelicans are called Divers for the way they dramatically dive into the water to catch fish. Also they live in saltwater. The white Pelicans scoop the fish from the water and live in and around fresh water. White Pelicans live inland, brown near the coasts,
On the other side of the restaurant live the iguanas. There were five of them out on the fake rocks by the pool.

No idea, OH just figured it out. he is facing away from me. That is why he looks like he is winking, cant see the other eye.
According to the landscaper this is called The Bishop's Balls. There used to be a big bush now just a small one. He says they are almost impossible to transplant. They just shrivel up and die if transplanted.
The next day heading across town. I just cannot get a really good picture of the old Valentino's building. Over the last several years it has been restored and is now housing several businesses.
Just a picture to show how big these things are. Still lots of tourists in town.
Umbrellas for the beach goers.
Just liked the way this turned out.
Looks like the diver was getting ready to dive. There was a cruise ship in town so they get a lot of people watching which means a tips. You couldn't pay me enough to do that. I wouldn't even go up the stairs to get to the diving platform.
Another breakfast - seems like all we do is eat. That will be changing when we get home. Think I've gained a bunch of weight. Back to La Antigua in Centro. So pretty there and great crepes.
The coffee cream is in the Eifel tower and the sugars in the pail. Think that is cute.
The old paving on the floor is cracking in a few places. That is a rain drain between the pavers and the tile. The paver part of the dining area has no roof. The old patio of the house.
An old bicycle as decoration.
Lots of plants. Another view of rain drain.
Inside, Love the use of tile.
I wouldn't mind living in a room like this.
Walking back towards Centro. Wonder how old this tree is?
And from here the pictures are on yesterday's blog. I forgot to charge my camera's battery so had to use my phone for the rest of the day.
Only four more sleeps and we'll be home. Hope it warms up some there by then.

Another trip to Centro for Breakfast and walk.

Though I'd start this with some pictures from Las Vegas yesterday morning. Winter Wonderland.

The desert and the mountains, this area is Red Rock Canyon. All of  this snow was clear across town from where we live. Instead of snow our area got strong winds. Our neighbor walked around our home to make sure we didn't lose any shingles from our roof. No damage, but a lot of homes did.
Back to Mazatlan. A pretty sunset from our balcony a couple of nights ago.
And breakfast at the beach the next morning.
I am starting to get  my pictures mixed up cause I use my camera and my phone. Most of these are from the phone. Yesterday we went to La Antigua in Centro for breakfast. Then walked around the area for a while.
As we were walking past this amazing huge bougainvillea  I realized I didn't see a trunk. Was it coming from the roof? or from the building? Walked across the street to find out. Notice the tree with the orange flowers on the roof.
So I walked under the bougainvillea to see where it was growing from. It was growing out a window!
Maybe it was originally in a pot and just outgrew it. You wouldn't think it could keep growing as big as it is.
Can someone please buy me and give me some TLC?
Lots of TLC. The rest of the buildings on the block are in good shape. The two story one really sticks out. There are trees growing up from inside the corner one.
Several years ago when we were still bring the RV down here this building was being restored. They were painting it blue ???dark blue?? when we left. Looks like that was the end of the restoration. The windows are covered with black plastic. And the one on the left end never got painted around. What happened? They had done a lot of work on the inside too.
I like the way the paint changes colors when a new home starts. This one needs a little work outside.
Caught my eye on the front of one house. Was it at one time a fountain, or is a roof drain?
Art gallery, hotel and restaurant in Plazuela Machado
Another quote on a utility box. "Only he who has stopped fighting is defeated."
And another one. "And I'm going to make a dictionary, with the words of love in the language of the gods, to sing to the heart." Mexican composer.
The beautiful work and arcade of the restaurant.
Looking into an art gallery.
A couple blogs ago I showed this building the front has the murals on it.
This plaque is on the front of it. Interesting.
The building on the left is  now a retirement home. It's claim to fame is Herman Melville wrote part of Moby Dick while staying there.
Just checking if there were new murals in this parking lot. We always used to park here when visiting Centro. Nothing has changed.
Old buildings and a government building at the end. Ugly.
Painting on a door. Pieces of art in unexpected places.
A tour group getting instructions for riding a Segway.
These are on most of the poles. They are for cigarette butts.
One of the statues along the Olas Altas area.
We went right by him but I didn't react quick enough to get all of him.
Skyline of Malecon. More ani more highrises.
We were at hotel for a while then went out to dinner. Another busy day.
