No Kidding

 A quote from the paper. "Congratulations, Las Vegas… we officially survived the hottest August in our history. And no, you weren’t being dramatic when you said it felt absolutely BRUTAL outside.

According to preliminary National Weather Service data, August 2026 had an average temperature of 96.3°F in Las Vegas — 4.6 degrees above normal. The average daytime high for the month was a ridiculous 106.6°F, while the average LOW was 86.1°F. Yes… that was the low.

The month started with Las Vegas hitting 115°F on August 1, followed by 113°F on August 2 and 3. Even our nights refused to cool down: several mornings had lows of 90°F or higher, including a record-breaking 90°F low on August 24. "

At least it is finally cooling down, well by Las Vegas standards. Surprisingly enough 97 does feel a whole lot cooler than 106. But the best part is the cooling into the 70's - and OH BOY - one night of 69!

Happened to look out one morning and saw this pretty sunrise. We had a few should have rained days with clouds. From the Hurricane Maria. All the construction for the county sewers is still going on. Lots of truck traffic behind us. Especially when one is trying to take a nap.

Bill continues to have the cooking bug. Works for me. He made three of these - they are Spanish tortillas. Made from thinly sliced potatoes and onions parsley and many eggs. he has a special set of pans to make them. They have to be flipped. The pans lock together to make that easier. We still have one in the freezer. YUM

I think I've mentioned that Bill is setting up a man cave in the garage. He wants to be able to get out of his "cubicle" in the computer room. His garage set up has everything he has in the computer room. Everything. Microwave, coffee pot, salt pepper, bread box, paper plates and towels. And that is just this photo. (actually I never noticed the paper plates until I was looking at this photo

When he turns around he has a Roku TV with dish on it and his desktop computer plugged into it so TV is also his monitor. (Yes, he is letting his hair grow, I wish I had those curls.)

He has added more things since I took this picture. Hopefully it continues to cool down so he can enjoy his time out there. Right now it is still too hot out there to spend more than a half hour out there.
Our poor -now little - tree looks like it is going to survive. Getting lots of new branches and leaves. (see last post for how it looked after the clean up of dead blown down parts.)

I really do feel like this sometimes. Especially when it has something to do with our health. have to fill out a kiosk screen at drugstore, one at eye doctor (even after filling out everything on line prior to going there.) Then the patient portals! UGH. One good thing about the heart doctors patient portal is he puts everything he talked about at appointment there, so I copy and paste it into AI and get clear easy to understand information in plain people talk. Also tired of surveys from every one and every thing you look at. Passwords drive me nuts. Who can remember 17 numbers, upper case and symbols. Not me. I can't even think of that many to make a password. Bill says he would be lost without someone to do all this stuff for him. He is right. Especially because he can't see.

So not much going on here. Want to get walking again soon. Or at least be able to get out and see how the construction is going on the Park's trails. Hopefully they will all be open.
