Sunshine today, thank goodness

Started this blog a while ago and got side tracked. So will finish it now. Here is a picture of Bill watching a movie on his computer, Thank you Gil, our son, for setting this up for him. Even has head phone, got new ones after this picture that are wireless.

A nice sunset the night before the RAINS CAME
Just a meal I fixed from scratch. Really good. Beefsteak tomatoes sliced with seasonings and cheese then baked. And chicken breasts with artichoke, onion, asparagus and leftover pieces of the tomatoes.
Been working on my diamond painting - the kind with the beads. Got this one framed and hung.
Working on this one now. I love roosters. Will find a place in the kitchen to hang it.
Bill bought me this one, finished it and framed it using a frame Bill made of an old piece of wood we found in the desert years ago. He made the frame a long time ago too, so I had to get creative to make it work with the weird size picture. This hangs in our computer room.
Right by the sunflower Bill made me out of wood a couple of years ago.
So excited, before the flood, about getting our mail box fixed finally. Lock broke several weeks ago and management had to order a new lock. They finally called me and told me the lock was fixed and pick up the keys. Well, I got to the office and the girl gave me back my old key...I mentioned I thought there should be new keys. Well this is what I have it will work. Hum...Went to mail box, of course it didn't work AND the lock was put on upside down...Went back to office and told them. So no one knew about new keys and maintenance man was upset when I mentioned lock was upside down. So I left - two days later they called found the keys. Picked them up and lock was on right side up, so guess I can end my affair with meeting the mail man every time I had mail. Yippee!
Also got a new TV - a Roku... Best Buy delivered and set it up. 50" TV and delivery and set up $238, lucked into a deal. Installer explained how to use it. So we are now bumbling our way through figuring out what is what and where is that channel I found before...Have managed to get Bill set up so he can watch Major League Soccer and watch Messi play for Miami. Worth it.
Here is the front corner of our house - just hanging out there in the air.
And that is it for this time.

And then the rains came down.

I was going to post some happy upbeat pictures and doings, but decided to share our exciting day with you. It is Monsoon weather here and we finally got some rain in our area. WAY too much rain. Actually it rained heavy for about 15 minutes. Then an hour or so later we got the water. This is the front corner of our house. Water is coming from the back, going under the house and coming out here.

The deep drainage ditch behind our house. It is about 3 feet deep by 3 feet wide.

Bill heard water running so went outside to check. Oh Oh! That is the front corner of our home.
It is gushing out from under the house right at the corner
Looking towards the back of the house. The wall separates us from the wetlands.
Oh boy! Just the other side of the AC the water is flowing under the house.
The drainage dish. Flowing like a river.
We are at the higher end of our street. So all water is flowing towards the end.
Water still pouring out from under house.

Digging out the ground under it.
The end of the street, the gates are to the Wetlands. They are holding a lot of debris. Management sent people to open the gates to let the water flow out.
The house on the left, had water in their garage and a big area where  the water was coming out from under their house.
It is quiet now, but another big storm is coming our way. Just heard thunder. All water is gone, street is full of mud and rocks. Management is trying to get it cleaned up before it rains again. No water got into the house. But will need to fill hole out front and shovel rocks back into place.
So our exciting weekend - supposed to rain tomorrow too. Can't wait to see the news tonight. Lots of flooding all over town.

A big change in the weather

The header is a picture I took yesterday at sunset. We had had a good rain shower. Here is another one taken at same time. Kind of eerie out. Last night with the rain we had some lightening and thunder, but not bad at our part of valley.

This is looking out over The Wetlands when I got up this morning. Very cloudy until about 10, then it cleared up. Raining again now though, not hard just sprinkling.
Took this picture about 9:30 - hasn't been this cool for months. Thought about walking, but humidity was 73% - ick.
Been working on this for a while. Bill bought me a set of pictures mostly with sunsets of some sort. So will be busy for a while. No idea what I'll do with them when they are finished. I still need to get the butterfly and sunflower ones framed. Maybe end of the week after the rain I'll go to JoAnn's or someplace to try to find frames. From just under the blue sky it is done to the bottom.
A closer look at the process. Some of the little letter or numbers are hard to read. Have to pay attention.
I took the next two pictures from the TV. This on is of a walking path in one of the parks closer to the mountains. With yesterday afternoons micro-burst rain there was this much moving water. Our son was out driving in it. Said he couldn't see more than a few feet in front of him and rain was coming down sideways.
Forecast for tomorrow and rest of week. Glad we don't have to go anywhere.
Not much going on. Made a pineapple upside down cake and have eaten almost half of it. My favorite cake. Probably just going to be reading and watching TV if we have a signal tomorrow.
