Doesn't take much to amuse us.

Summer comes in spurts here. Last few days we've been below normal weather wise. But soon we'll be well above normal. Strange year. And the pollen counts are way above average. Tomorrow the winds pick up again. Guess we'll have to keep the doors closed and run the air purifier.

The community we live in is re- coating the streets. New slurry going down. Not fixing the cracks - didn't fill them in, just sealing them.
These guys are vacuuming the street. Getting all the debris off I guess.
Then there were three guys with brooms spreading the slurry along the curbs.

Here is some they spread. Also my blooming ocotillo.
One of my favorite plants.
Such a pretty flower, only lasts a few days.
The cactus is all plumped up from all the rain this year. Hope it flowers.
We have had a busy back yard the last week or so. Some quail - a family I think - two larger ones and three smaller ones have been hanging out here. They usually come every late afternoon.
Also had a couple of bunnies passing through. And two or three hummingbirds flying around.
The last few days have not been good for Bill. He is extremely fatigued all day.He will get up for a while, then heads back to bed. He is keeping hydrated and eating three meals a day. And will sit outside for a while in the afternoon. But now with the pollen so high and the winds picking up again being out isn't is good idea. He had to stop using his Flonase nasal spray as it was giving him nose bleeds. So his allergies are bothering him on top of the long Covid. Wish there was something to do for him.
A picture I took in El Quelite, might make a quilted wall hanging of it. Maybe - If I get motivated.
I did take a walk yesterday morning, just a short one as it was already too warm out. Will try again tomorrow morning earlier.

Improvements

Boy for the last few days the wind has been blowing like crazy. There are geranium petals all over. Had to turn the air purifier on so much dust and pollen in the air.

Noticed a couple of days ago that the ocotillo out front had some green leaves on it. Just a couple of branches.

Yesterday morning there were several quail in the back yard. They move so quick, hard to get a picture of. Haven't seen any bunnies out there since we've been home.
Going out there later I discovered one of the lantana was already blooming.
See where the Jeep is parked. Between a tree and a post. That is where we keep it when we aren't traveling. Well yesterday I took both cars to get them smogged - both passed! My car is kept in garage. No problem. But the blind man - Bill - well he can see a little bit - decided I wouldn't be able to back the Jeep out. So he did it, got it turned around in the back yard and took it to the curb. He told me when I brought it back to just pull up to the curb, he would repark it. And he did. After it was parked we put the cover on it.
He is feeling a little better. Is having more good days than bad ones. So he has taken over the watering - guess he didn't think I took his "advice."
Back out front the octollo now is covered in green leaves. Happens so quick. One day it looks dead then the next it is full of leaves and flowers on the tips of the branches. Our pretty window boxes without any artificial flowers in them. Not going to put anything real in them. They weren't made for real stuff.
All the plants in the side yard are leafing out too. When we got home they were just dry sticks.
A kind of different sunset - lots and lots of dust in the air.
Around two o'clock this morning something - someone was banging on the outside wall of the house. Looked out and couldn't see any one. But a few months back several homes reported banging on the walls in the middle of the night for several nights in a row. . Figured it was teenagers - no one, including security, ever saw them and then it stopped. So today we are both sleepy.

Productive Sunday

Finally got all my plants planted. Now just hope they all live. And that I remember to take care of them. The ones on the exterior wall of the house.

Have them sitting on the edge of the patio, hopefully they will get enough sun there.

When Bill got up Sunday morning he felt good enough to make spaghetti sauce - a lot of it. I opened all the cans and chopped some of the items needing chopping. With his advice of course.
Two big pans of it. the pan on the right was my mother's pan. Got to be eighty years old. The other on towards the back, is one of the few pans I have left from my waterless cookware set. It is at least 64 years old.
When it cooled down separated it into serving sizes and froze it.
By then we were both ready to sit down.
Sometime this week I have to get both cars smogged so can register them. Might do one today.
I am still coughing but not really bad. Just enough to be annoying.
Today, Monday, was a really good day for Bill. He was up and about for most of the day. Even had the swagger back in his walk. By about 6 p.m. though his get up and go got up and went. Bed by 7 o'clock. Hope he didn't over do it today. We'll see what tomorrow brings. It was my day to be more tired than usual. Didn't accomplish anything I planned on doing. Oh well, some days are just like that.
