Just every day stuff.

Just every day stuff this time, but there will be more on Area 15 in a couple of more blogs. Boy, we went to fill up the Jeep the other day. I am driving it now for a while as it is easier for Bill to get in and out of. 18.45 gallons at $4.80 per gallon. Reality shock. Glad we aren't driving too much.

So what else is going on - Our Dish TV had been giving us problems. It would just shut off while watching it. Not the main TV but the one in the den. It had been doing that for quite a while. Even before we got the new Roku TV. I'd called Dish three or four times trying to get them to replace the receiver box in that room. Nope. So they set up a tech visit. Luckily the person I was talking to came through for me. She set me up with the home visit insurance - one month free so it would cover the $95 visit. And reminded me to cancel it before the month was out. Visit was for the next day. Arrival between 12 and 5. Well that was a walking day so we left at 9:00 me thinking I'd be home in plenty of time. About 10:15 I get a call the tech is at the gate...nuts! I'm about a mile into the Wetlands. They said they would wait for me. Never walked so fast in my life. It seems like they got the problem fixed as things are working okay now.

Then that night the speakers on Bill's three month old computer quit working. We both fooled around with it but couldn't get them working. So the next morning I called the Geek Squad - yes I pay yearly for their service. Was on phone with a guy in Panama for about an hour, he couldn't get things working. So he switched me to someone else - an engineer. Who I'd bet was in India. Withing fifteen minutes he had every thing working. Just uninstalled drivers then re installed them. All is now working well. With all that is going on health wise around here minor things feel like big crisis.

I continue to work on my Christmas placemats -m have then to the point where I can start the initial quilting on them. Forgot what a drag pinning them in preparation for the quilting is.

After I finish quilting them I still have to put the edging on them. Hope they will be done by Christmas.

Have also finished the last diamond dots picture I was working on. The light wasn't good so the sparkles don't show up, prettier than it looks here.  No idea what I'm going to do with all these, but sure fun to do. (Oh just noticed I took this picture before it was completely done - see upper right corner no beads.)

Just a small corner - lower left...lots and lots of beads to work with.

I had looked into signing up for an RV driving course.  Could have taken them in December - expensive - two four days and $600. Decided to wait until we know more about what is going on with Bill's eyes. He sees a new doctor early December.  Our son said he would go with me if I wanted to practice driving the RV. So we will see. Speaking of our son, the one who lives here in Vegas. He just sent two of his ladies, he owns a cleaning service, over here to clean the house. I'm asking them to do things I don't always do, back in corners and under things. But it is nice to have the whole house cleaned in one day.

I am still walking, in fact yesterday we walked four miles!!  I feel it today, but we usually do around three. It is just so nice out there in the Wetlands, you don't realize how far you are going. We only saw road runners and one bunny besides the water fowl.  From yesterdays walk. And the weather is getting nice here. In low 60's when we walk. Though it is going to rain for the next few days.

Guess that is it for now. Oh, Bill did go to ear doctor. Basically his problem is to do with his allergies. So doctor changed his nasal spray - said that should relieve the feeling of pressure in his ear. So far so good. His hearing isn't so bad yet that he needs hearing aids. Oh that reminds me, we are no longer senior citizens, we are now Super Agers. Once you are 80 or older. Enough for today.

Inside the building at Area 15

I will continue on for a few blogs about Area 15. But to catch up a few other things. The TV that Bill watches all the time keeps going black, until we unplug and reset the Dish Joey receiver. Needless to say this is driving Bill crazy. He has a hard enough time finding the buttons on the remote. So tech coming tomorrow aft. Hope he can fix it and that it is not the new Roku TV it is plugged into.  We got lucky with tech - although for me it was a challenge. They were supposed to come between 12 and 5. So I went walking this morning at 9:00  - About 10:15 I get a call tech is at gate and wants code. I am in middle of Wetlands...So I told them I could meet them in about 15 minutes and gave them the gate code. Called Bill, several times, he was "reading in the bedroom" and didn't hear the phone - well, okay, he was sleeping. So I did some very fast walking, leaving my friends behind, and managed to get home in 13.5 minutes. They think they figured out the problem and now we wait and see. According to them our main box was the one getting too hot and shutting off the secondary box. So main box is now up on legs to keep it cool. So...

Also called health insurance and found a new retina doctor for Bill. Bill is not too happy with the way his eye is getting worse. And the doctor's attitude about it. So he now has an appointment on Dec1st to see new doctor.  Hopefully he will get better news.

Here is a really red sunset we had a few nights ago.

Las Vegas has been dealing with a whole lot of road closures along the strip due to the Formula 1 race event that starts next Wednesday through Friday. Guess when we will get our first rain of the winter. That's right Wednesday and Thursday!! I think most of the populace of Vegas is going OH YAH - NANA NANA!!! The repaving, putting up bleachers, closing strip sidewalks, cutting down old trees on strip sidewalks etc etc etc has been going on for over four months. Most regular people here in town cannot afford the tickets to go see it. So needless to say we aren't happy with the whole thing.  All the strip workers will not be able to drive to their work places. Will have to park several blocks away and take the monorail or walk.
Another picture of the Sphere.
So back to Area 15, after we entered through the bland door everything changed. Dark and neon every where. Hard to describe. And this area was only the beginning and dull by comparison to what was inside the cooler door. No I'm not nuts. Our first view. Sorry it is blurry - didn't let the camera focus.
There were several, little shops and bar/restaurants inside the huge warehouse like room we were in.
Entrance to a toy store, no we didn't go in. Too much to see to stop.
This is the line waiting to go into the "grocery store" Omega Mart. Our next stop after looking around some more. Let me remind you we had already walked in the Wetlands 3.5 miles that morning. Lots of ground to cover here.
This lit up tree was amazing, changing colors and then moving up and down or appeared to move.
A couple of real short videos of the tree.

Inside the "grocery store" they sell all kinds of weird things. From toys, knick knacks to real groceries like soup, candy and soap. The things that look like chip bags on the right are pillows. Little statue of a what ever hawking his wares. Can't remember what it was. Display of some type of food corn behind him.
You could crawl into this and stick your head out the hole for a picture. I thought about it but decided if I ever got under it they'd have to get a tow truck to get me out.
These are stuffed things...Daikon Radish stuffed toy. People were buying them.
Red and Green pepper ceramic pieces. Kind of funny.
Mushroom animals and vegetables. Only a couple of inches high.
More corn.
Non edible donuts.
A camel made out of soup cans, the soup was for sale.
And then we went through the cooler door. And the adventure began.
How was it - well this is what I looked like when we came out an hour or so later.
Next blog will show you why.
Bill and I just realized neither of us have any winter clothes - I should clarify that. We don't have any winter clothes that will still fit us. Last time we wore them was over 15 years ago. And I only have sandals and one pair of tennis shoes. So shopping time is coming. After I try everything in the closet on and realize for sure they no longer fit.

Visit to Area 15 NOT 51

What a difference a year makes. Click here to see what we were doing in Mazatlan last year at this time. Today we were at an unscheduled appointment with Bill's retinal doctor.  He got his last shot two weeks ago and it stopped working within a week. The eye is really bad again. Every thing looks wavy and like it is undulating. Makes going up a curb hard.

Fun news on Monday the community where we live had a bus trip to Area 15 here in Vegas. Since it was built I've wanted to go there. What a TRIP! Very hard to explain what it is. Lots of lights, color and movement. This is the outside of one of the buildings there. It is weird. Click here to look at the best web site that talks about Area 15 - or AKA Meow Wolf. Don't feel bad I don't understand it either and I've been here...

We got there before it opened so had to stand in line for a while. Lots to see outside of the building.  I thought I had a better picture of this. Very pretty with the sun coming through it.
His little girl was sitting in it reflections.
This container was right next to where we were standing. A rather small container.
But a lot of people going in to it through these doors. Of course I had to go in. Amazing!!! I'm using my new Photoshop program to resize and edit these, Still looking for some of the old programs  edits.
Inside it is about 4 feet by 6 feet but at first it seems so much larger. Until you realize it is all mirrors. That is me at the far right. And more and more of me.
Looking the other way. What an illusion.
A title of a huge mirror tower like thing.
Interesting looking. Just one of many, many things that makes you wonder...
Yes, that is part of an airplane in the center left. No idea. It is in the parking lot. Also no idea about the huge rusted metal thing. I see there is a sign, but didn't see it until I'm looking at this picture. Oh, sign says "Please do not climb"
This is a ride. The white part has a basket containing plush seats. It is part of a bar so drinks can go with the riders. It loads at ground level, of course, then SLOWLY goes way up. So it is just a viewing platform that moves up and down.
Some murals on the outsides of the buildings.

This is the entrance, kind of blah...but inside!!!!!
He is wearing tennis shoes. Sign says "Cloned Bulldog with Petbottle"...This is a weird place.
A commentary from one of their web pages. So true. Little did we know what we were going to experience.
Weather is getting cooler, feels good. Got errands to run so will post this. Next time pictures from inside the building...
