Old Perpetual Oregon’s only continuously spouting geyser shoots a plume of 200 degree water over 40 - 60 feet into the air every 90 seconds or so. Since 1923 when developers were drilling wells in the near by area of natural hot pools. As the water table drops over the summer it goes off less often and doesn't go as high. For a while in 2014 it quit altogether for a year or so. But is going off again.

While I was out I walked over to see the geyser again. Without the wind blowing all the water sideways it went pretty high.
Decided I'd turn on the movie button and just stand with it running to catch the next blow. Didn't have to wait too long. You can maybe hear the geese honking in the background.
It got pretty cold last night and heavy rain even some thunder. Because the weather is over 50% chance of rain today we decided to stay put. Have the heater on as it is still cool. Had a frost alert on phone this morning.
Sun is out so we went into town for breakfast. I know we always go out for breakfast - Lazy. A mural of sorts on building across street from Jerry's Restaurant.

I talked Bill into driving over where the geyser is. Just across the field and street from the campground. This area used to be a resort where people came to bathe in the hot springs. Now the geese have taken it over. Must be the one I saw flying and heard honking last night.
And there it goes. Not very high today and the wind is blowing again. At least Bill got to see it for his effort.

Tomorrow is suppose to be warmer and sunnier. So we'll be on the road. Going to gas up here in Lakeview so hopefully we can make it into Nevada before we need more gas.
Today turned out to be a beautiful day. So we took advantage of that and took a ride. First we went to breakfast in town. Ate at Jerry's again. Good meal.
Then we decided to head back north to take another look at Albert Lake and Albert Rim. First we went through a really forested area. Lots of sunshine and blue sky.
This is the Albert Rim. One side of the road is flat the east side raises almost straight up.

While studying the sign I noticed the Old Perpetual Geyser and remembered reading about it. It is the only one in Oregon. It used to be continual but the water table has dropped so now it erupts every so many minutes.
Back at the campground I did decide to do laundry. The owner has decorated an area near the laundry room. She collected old tires, small and large, and then painted them in bright colors. Really cute. I also asked her if she knew where the geyser was she said "Sure, you can see it from here."
So we walked out behind the laundry room, stood there a few minutes and sure enough there it went.
And there goes the geyser. I actually saw it twice. 
It goes off every 5 to 10 minutes. With the wind blowing so hard today a lot of it was going sideways instead of straight up.
IF the weather is nice tomorrow - no 40mph wind - we will leave for California.
We are now in Lakeview, OR not too far from the California border. We're traveling the 395 south. Left Burns at 9:15 and arrived here at 12:15. 137 miles. We got some gas in Burns - good thing we did it was a longer way here than I'd figured. Oregon regular is 2.799! Highest we've paid in a long time. And forgot that in Oregon they have attendants to pump the gas AND wash your windows.
We are staying here at the Base Camp RV Park right on the 395 just before town of Lakeview. Only $25 a night, level long pull-throughs, good WiFi and we are in a space with no trees so satellite works good. 30amps electric, sewer and water. Maybe tomorrow I'll do laundry here.
The drive here was pretty uneventful. Two lane highway all the way with some passing lanes and some new and some not so new pavement.
It was cloudy all day with intermittent sprinkles. This was basically the view the first 3/4 of the trip. We got excited when there was a curve to break the view.

Be still my fluttering heart! Something to see - sand dunes - almost missed getting a picture of them.
And then we came to Lake Abert. Very interesting place. It is pretty big, or used to be. It s disappearing more and more. It is Oregon's third largest lake and it is salt water. It was always a stop for migrating birds. They feed on the brine shrimp. You can see rain drops in the picture. That is not water, salt and dried mud.
I wish the sun had been out. I looked the lake up online and there were some beautiful pictures taken on a sunny day.
