Even hotter today.

Another day of mid 90's - tomorrow 100 is predicted. A for sure inside day, except to give plants more water than the timed sprinklers will give them
No walking for a couple of days either - though yesterday for the first time in a long time I got in over 10,000 steps. Took a longer than usual walk in the morning.
By Sunday our weather is taking a drastic change highs of 75 - maybe even lower. Staying in the 70's all next week. Good for the plants.
When we were at the nursery buying the plants I was thinking - we're buying way too many, we don't need that many. Well now that they are planted - we need more! But not right now. Had to dig a deeper hole for the Palo Verde tree.
Bills Jasmine - right out the kitchen window. Smells good.
The three shrubs that go between one of "the pine trees" and the shed.
Looking from the back corner - some lantanas around the patio and the shrubs.
My ocotillo and a cactus right outside my sewing room window. Love it.
The plants for the dumb yard behind our front door looking towards the wetlands. The area just needed something.
Another look at the ocotillo - it has misters up at the top - suggested by the landscaper at the nursery. It has flowers but no leaves. Can't wait until next year when it gets leaves.
See Willie back there? Once these bushes grow no one will be able to see Willie.
Just another of the lantanas around the patio. Bill wants to get some roses too for there.
Looking at the tree and my favorite bush that has the orange flowers that bloom all summer. Also some brake lights with red spiky flowers and a couple of light gray gopher plants.
So today we had to go get some mothballs to keep the bunnies away - hope it works and that they don't stink so we can smell them. Also had to get another hose for the front and a couple of nozzles. Once the plants take and are happy the automatic sprinkler system will be enough for them.
Leftovers for dinner tonight. Bill cooked chicken cutlets with mushrooms and onions last night. Excellent!
No work on the window for a couple of days - even too hot in garage first thing in the a.m.

Hot, hot, hot.

Hum...guess it is time to get a new header for the blog. Will have to get busy with that. Until I get something better will use this one of this morning's sunrise over the wetlands.
Up bright and early this morning. Wanted to take a walk before the temperatures got high. Did a couple of miles. And Bill even went with me for part of the way.
Then while waiting for the plants to be delivered I finished soldering the back side of my window. Still have to do a little bit of touch up and cleaning it up and smoothing out some globs of solder where my hand shook and I made a mess. Getting really hard to do the soldering. So if not too hot in the garage tomorrow morning I'll do that then turn it face up and clean up the front.
Sent one guy to deliver the plants. No wonder he just "drops them at the curb."
And here they are at the curb.
Bill and I kind of moved them and put them more or less where we want them. Left the big tree and the ocotillo sitting there.
Bill wanted these between the tree and the garage to have more privacy in the back yard.
I happened to look out back and A not so cute BUNNY was EATING one of the plants already - they're still in the pots!. Before it even got planted. Need to get some moth balls to put around them. Some of the little plants the bunny was munching on.
The gardeners are here now starting to plant the plants, they were a little surprised about how many we bought, and especially about the big tree. Digging here in the Vegas dirt is a bit like trying to dig through concrete. I sure hope the stuff lives, the nursery does have a year replacement for things that die.
Made beef stroganoff for dinner the other night. Forgot how good it could be. Trying to make a few different things once in a while, before I completely forget how to cook. Tonight will be a shared project. Bill will do the chicken and I'll do the rest of the stuff.

Oh! Oh! We shouldn't have done that.

So here I am back again. Summer came to Vegas overnight! The rest of the week is supposed to be in HIGH 90's maybe triple digits! BUT by Sunday it is supposed to be back down to 78 with more wind.
At least it is a DRY heat.

I wrote about the big Oriental lady I have been working on for a quilt center. Here are a few of the quilt blocks that will go with it. If I ever get the center piece done and figure out a way to arrange it. When I first got my embroidery machine I did all of these. Then made the blocks while in Indiana. The problem is - I don't know where I'd put the finished quilt. Don't have a guest room anymore.
Bill has built an airport out in the garage. Many more things in there and we'll have to rent a storage place for the car.
Yesterday the parks gardeners/handymen came by after their work hours and installed an automatic sprinkler/drip system all around the house.
Here are some shots of our "yard" just rocks. One palm tree and three pine trees.

This is our small yard where the front door is. Had the dead cypress cut down from here. The row of cement edging stones designate our property from the new house next door. Pretty close quarters. We never use the front door. All pretty ugly huh?
So this morning as we were sitting in Denny's having breakfast we were looking across the street at the big Star Nursery. Went over there after we ate to "just look around."
Aren't these pretty? - Love them.
And our looking around lead to this - one cart
two carts - this one has a couple of the plants with the pretty orange/yellow flowers. The red spiky ones are called Brake Lights.
three carts - an ocotillo. And not in the pictures one big Palo Verde tree. They will deliver thank goodness - so tomorrow morning we'll have some green as least as far as our curb. After I took this picture Bill came with a big Jasmine plant for the corner between the patio and the garage. The only shade we have.
Didn't buy any of these just took their pictures as they are weird colors.
After we got home Bill went looking for the gardeners and they said they'd be by tomorrow after work. Instant landscaping. We'll probably need a few more things, but want to see how this looks first.
Going to post this and go read a book. To hot to work on window.
