Getting things done

Woops, instead of updating this blog draft I updated, somewhat, the last blog post. While doing it I was thinking "I thought I'd already written that." Yep I had. So you might want to read previous blog - it is now a little different. 
We are actually staying quite busy, getting things done - but not much to write about. 
Every morning when I look outside I'm so glad we bought this house with the desert and mountain view. So peaceful out there. Quite cloudy this morning, forecast says 20% chance of rain today and tomorrow.

We have several rogue palm trees growing in the middle of the lantana. We thought there was only one growing there, that was okay, but now it looks like there are five or six growing. Not good - some have to go. 

Bill's jasmine is growing like crazy.Pretty soon it will take over the garage door and the shed.

Remember the strange little plant I bought in Mexico last winter. It is growing like crazy, getting all kinds of new stalks.  

Yesterday I got in 9723 steps, didn't notice how close it was to 10,000 until I took the fitbit off. Have not made 10,000 since spring. Shame on me. Also yesterday we mailed the extra Dish receiver back to the tune of $32! I have an appointment to talk to a customer service representative on Monday. I am going to strongly request that be refunded to me along with the price of the unit. This whole Dish TV thing has not been a good experience.
We also went to the pharmacy to order all our medications for the winter. Will know in a day or two if that goes through without any problems. Sometimes it is smooth, other times it is a nightmare. But it always gets done.
Also scheduled final outside/inside pest control appointment. They will continue to treat the outside every two months while we are gone and email me the invoice - I hope. 
Finally cooled down enough to turn on the oven and fix a roast with potatoes and carrots last night. Tasted really good. Going to try to eat a few of the things in the freezer before we go. 
Just before I wrote this today I got an email from Direct TV with instruction on how to return the five receivers to them. Just take them to a UPS store and give them to them. No cost to me. One more thing checked off the list. 
Very cool here today mid to low 70's, Bill has on jeans. I'm loving it. Maybe we'll get some rain. Yesterday here in our area we got about 73 drops on the patio. 

ARGGGGG

Got out walking again so nice that the mornings are cool. So cool in fact I'll be putting the electric blanket back on the bed today. No, not for me but...Today was a perfect weather day, slight breeze low 80's, blue sky with puffy white clouds. If only it could stay like that. By Sunday our HIGH will be 75, yes! But then it is warming up a little again. 

Saw these in a yard on my walk. Might be a fun project to do next year. All through with projects this year.

 Also a kind of nice sunrise yesterday morning, nothing this morning.

So anyway - yesterday we got the two Wallys - the receivers for the Dish TV in the RV. After much searching found someone who would set up dome and install the receivers. According to the person I spoke to at Dish when I ordered the Wallys to the tune of $119 EACH we would be able to install both of them in the RV and be able to watch different channels at the same time. Good that is what we had with Direct - more on that later. Called the installer this morning and he had just received a cancellation, would we like them to come right over. Of course!
We rushed up the street to get the RV and bring it home, luckily it is only two blocks away. Got it parked and hooked up and the installation truck came around the corner. Wow service! From there it kind of went downhill. Settings on dome were changed with no problem. Receiver was set up in living area no problem. Now Problem. With the dome we have [when talking to Dish TV I told them which satellite dome we had] not only couldn't we watch a different channel on the back box, but most of the time it wouldn't work anyway because of Dish using 3 different satellites...They would install it but we would be throwing our money away. UNLESS, and he didn't recommend it, we got a wifi set up for an additional $299!!!! then we could watch the same channel in the back as was on in the livingroom. OR we could buy a regular satellite dish for the second box - then we could watch something different on each TV. No thanks. So the one box is working and I called Dish and told them I wanted to return the other box and wanted a refund. No problem, in fact I called about four hours ago and already have had two responses and the info I need to return the box at no cost to me. More on that later.
I also received a call from Dish because I filled out a very unsatisfied customer survey because of an earlier misrepresentation. And because I didn't answer the phone, we were in a restaurant I got a very nice e-mail requesting me to contact them to discuss my problem. They will probably wish they never contacted me cause now I have a 2nd cause to complain about. And complain I will do. It cost me $32 to mail the unwanted receiver back to Dish!!!
Tonight is the first game of the season for our hockey team. I hope it is sold out so it isn't blacked out here. (I wrote most of this a day or so ago - the hockey team has since lost 2 games in a row. And discovered I could watch the games on an alternate channel if they aren't broadcast on the regular channels.)
Bill is still feeling good, gets more strength and normalcy back every day.
While the RV was out front he washed part of it - and loaded a lot of the stuff that goes in the basement compartments. Then we went to lunch and grocery shopping. Last week he couldn't have even gone to lunch.
Tomorrow another challenge with the prescriptions and the insurance company. We need a six month supply. Some years no problem, some years lots of problems.

And good things happen

Hum...not sure where to begin. I guess with Bill. After the heart stent the doctor put him on a blood thinner called Brilinta. By the middle of the third week of taking it he could barely get out of bed. His speech was slurred. I was almost in panic mode. On Friday I called the cardiologist's office. Could not get a hold of any one. Finally I managed to push the right button and get a live person. Told her what was going on. She told me she would locate someone - she was in the main office not the medical building - and have them call me right back. Within 20 minutes the nurse called back. I told her what was going on. She said she would speak with the doctor who was working and call me right back. All the time I'm thinking "Yah sure." In ten minutes she called back. She'd spoken to the, not our, doctor and told me Bill was to stop the Brilinta immediately and she'd already called a new prescription in to our pharmacy. He should start on it the next day. The Brilinta he had to take 2x a day - so he wouldn't take the evening one. Within the hour the pharmacy had called the new prescription - generic Plavix was ready to pick up. I had been on line a couple of time reading some of the reviews for Brilinta - some people called it The drug from Hell. Other said the Devil must have invented it. And to be fair others had very few side effects from it. So any way. Saturday morning Bill was already feeling much better. Able to get up without any problems and moving around and breathing better. He's been taking the Plavix since Saturday and here he is Monday morning - up on a ladder hanging my rooster.

The rooster is up - I'm thinking it needs a spot light on it! [Yes I'm one of those people who collects magnets from everywhere. Soon will need a bigger refrigerator.]

In all its glory. Now I want to do another one but don't have any more spaces on the walls.

Lots of changes in the weather coming. This says sunny today but forecaster said scattered showers. Check out Sunday and Monday. Goody, goody. Bill says he needs to check out the furnace. 

We did not get any rain from Rosa - just some cloudy skies. Looking towards the east over the desert. Lots of dark clouds.

Just down the street this tree is starting to bloom.

After more research I discovered our Winegard satellite dome is preset for Direct TV so to change it to Dish "someone" has to go up on the roof of the RV, take off the dome cover and reset the switches to Dish configuration. Sounds easy enough, but neither one of us wants to go up there. 80 year old bones break too easy.
Oh and another thing. On Sunday  AFTERNOON we got a call from our primary doctor's office asking if Bill could come in at 11:00 the next day - Monday. Of course said a resounding YES. I think I mentioned I was trying to reschedule our 10/25 appointments to sooner. So in he went. All is well, prescriptions all renewed for a year. As we were checking out the nurse/appointment maker said to me. Still haven't a time for you, but all your tests came back fine so you really don't need to come in. Still want me to make an appointment. NO! She would have doctor renew prescriptions and I'm all done too. So Bill is ready to get out of town NOW. But. still waiting to get Dish set up and he has one prescription that can't be renewed until the 17th.
Sometimes things seem to fall together. but then maybe I'd better just wait and see.
