not much to talk about

Well I ended up with a little bit to talk about. Just spending the days enjoying ourselves. The other night we went up to Roy's restaurant in Cerritos. Mainly we went to Cerritos just to get outside and walk around looking in the shops. Then saw the grilling going on so decided to get take out. Got ribs. Not any where as good as Fat Fish. And again - both of us knew better - the meal did not agree with Bill. Not only does red meat disagree with him now after not eating for so long, but pork doesn't agree with him either. The last time I fixed pork at home it upset his stomach. But...had to try again. Not any more. Lesson learned.

She was watching a couple of kids running all over the place. One of the reasons ours was take out. I know they were just kids being kids, Been there done that don't do it any more.
Out for breakfast too. I really don't even want to cook anything in this heat and humidity. At Torres watching the waves and enjoying the breeze.
Then on to Home Depot looking for something. Did find it - replacing something that the lovely thieves took.
Had to laugh at this. On our son's Facebook page. Ah yes, we all get older.
Went to WalMart this morning looking for English Muffins and found some - hooray. Going in have to put arm up for temperature taking then use sanitizer and of course wear mask. Remembered our bags this time.
When we got home, to RV, we discovered that the palm trees were being trimmed. These guys were using shoe spikes and a rope to climb the trees. Then chopping the fronds off with a machate. Did a good job in a short time.
Got tired of being inside so back across the street tonight for dinner and sunset.
Who could resist taking this picture.
The sun behind the low clouds.
Love to watch this waiter when he is serving drinks. He can dance, move quickly and go down stairs with the glass on his head. Bravo.
Just thought this was pretty.
No idea what we might do tomorrow, it is still very hot and humid. Do not want to walk around when it is like this.

Flowers and Plumas and Sunset!

The rest of our trip to La Martina. Driving home from La Martina, just some of the colorful flowers blooming along the highway .

A harvested field. Sorghum?
Back on free road 15 - the signs warning that the road is closed to through travel. Locals only. Because of the bridge that is washed out. Yet people have driven right off the broken bridge and ended up in the river...
Heading down towards the ocean we were surprised the other day when we got here to see that the railroad crossing finally had lights and barrier arms - plumas. Years, 6 or 7 years,  ago after a bus was hit by a train at this crossing the lights and arms were supposed to be installed.  Every year we wondered where are the plumas? (In fact a few years ago when we were at a birthday party we talked to the soon to be mayor. He assured us that would be one of the first things he did. But by the time he took office the money designated for the plumas had disappeared!) By golly this year they are here! We could see the flashing red lights and as we got closer could also see the arm was down. We stopped.

And stayed stopped looking for a train...
But guess we weren't supposed to stop. The two men on the right kept waving at us to go around. This was maybe the first time it was being tested??? I hope in the future people don't just go around them. This video is from the dash cam.

Also there is a new fountain at the round about at the end of the road where one turns left to go to the RV park. Very pretty.

Later that afternoon we went out to the look out point by the light house to watch the sunset.

The observatory up on the hill. It is now open for tours. Including the ride up and down on the funicular. 49 minute tour includes a video about the observatory built in 1873. A visit to the bird sanctuary and the history of mezcal. And a great view. Prices for foreign adults is 450 pesos. Less expensive for children and local adults.

The funicular bringing tourists down to the main level.
Not very much parking available, better to take a cab or pulmonia.
New painting on this home.
People out on the glass overlook at the light house.
The beginning of sunset.
The sun right at the top of the big rock. Of the six light standards only one was working. See the unconnected wire on this one. Too bad, hope they get fixed soon.
Getting a little redder.
Even more red.

Yesterday, we had our yearly visit from our mobile mechanic, Pablo, yesterday. He changes the oil and filters in both vehicles every year right after we get here.

And the Jeep also needs a new radiator, guess it has been leaking for a while. So Pablo showed up bright and early and worked on Willie. He got a new radiator and a new water pump. So he should be good to go for a while again.

Bill working with his space station charging station for his drones.
Other than a short drive up to Cerritos and a walk around the open shops we didn't do much. Oh, I did re arrange our food cupboards cause we couldn't find anything in them. And that was it for yesterday.

Our Winter home. Las Jaibas Trailer Park

Thought I'd take a walk around the RV park, this is One of our bougainvilleas blooming. Amazing what water will do.

There are a lot of these in bloom around the campground.

This is one of the nicest spaces in the park. Looks like a garden site. That is us behind the bushes.
looking towards the front of the park the south side sites. There is one RV way up there.
There are a lot of boats stored here now. Some because the owners wanted to get them out of the water before Hurricane Pamela came. This is the middle row near the restrooms.
More construction on the north side of the park. Looks like apartments. The fence is gone and lots of dirt on the campground side.
Another pretty flowering bush.

The office never changes. The WiFi is working this year.  But all the TelMex cables that served the sites on the north side and the back are GONE . They were removed/cut during the construction of the two new restaurants.

Out front and just to the right of the entrance is this seafood and sushi restaurant. It is actually on the RV park ground.
The inside of it. I've heard it is good and it seems to do a pretty good business.
Next to it before the Kiosko is a Taco Time.
Just past the Kiosko and the little restaurant that has been there for years is this big new Farmacia.
In the middle divider is the bike path. In the street are the little yellow bumps to remind drivers the bike path is there. I've noticed a couple of bikes come into the street without seeming to look first. Careful.
Walking back to the back  more boats. down the middle.
Closer look at the new construction. pretty much makes the north row of sites unusable.

And that's the tour of Las Jaibas our winter home. Paying at a monthly rate it comes to about US$15 a day - includes electricity 30 amp. Restrooms are very well kept. Spaces are large and level. A block from the beach and lots of public transportation.  In a week or so hopefully there will be more rigs here. I forgot to take a picture of the swimming pool and lounge area around it. As always it is very pretty and well maintained.
Bill took the drone up to take a video of the park. You can see the jeep getting its new radiator then the front of the park. The new restaurants are by the cell tower in the front.
The rest of the video showing all the work that has been done around the park. New building everywhere.

So that is it for today. Oh, a 5th wheel just pulled in here in back. Hope they'll be here for a while.
