Walking, enjoying and spending

Well all the people living here in Vegas who were complaining about the cold, got their wish answered. Last week in 40's and 50's; tomorrow and next day in the 90's UGH. I sure hope our air conditioner is working. Haven't tried it yet. Been running the furnace. About to change.

The ladies I walked with last summer and fall got a hold of me and asked if I wanted to walk yesterday morning. Yes, of course. But not too far. And we got a late start - ten o'clock. Yesterday it was still cool then.  So we went into the Wetlands. Still too early for things to be really green and blooming. The first lagoon we came to. Very calm and quiet.
Some turtles and a snake...nope not a snake a branch. Sure looked like a snake from a distance.
A couple of duck type birds.
When I first caught a glimpse of this from a distance it looked like an old time boot hill. It is really a field with a whole bunch of new plants in it. Wrapped in heavy paper to protect them.
A glimpse of the mountain with its deep snow pack.
Another lagoon, nothing to disturb its still waters. Reflection of the clouds in it.
Another look at the mountains.
Part of the Wetlands has remained dry desert. This area is where the coyotes usually hang out. Didn't see any. Didn't even see any bunnies.
Got in a 5500 step walk, with lots of sitting down on the benches resting. By night I'd done 6500 steps. Just need to keep it up to lose all the weight I gained back and get my energy back.
Last nights sunset. Rather pretty.
I like the red upper clouds.
As for the spending part. We went to the nursery this morning to get some REAL plants to replace the forbidden artificial ones. That my friends is 95 dollars worth of plants. Well them and a sack of dirt, gloves and a hand shovel.
Still have to get a few more for the smaller pots. I need to explain the "why they can do this." It is not really a HOA. We live in a manufactured home community and THE LAND is owned by the company. We only own the house. That way if you do something they don't like they can throw you and your house out. Twice a year they have the right to do a walk all the way around your house and let you know if they don't like something. In a way it is good. You can't have a bunch of junk, peeling paint, vehicles that don't run or unkept yards. So everything looks really nice in here. The good part of it is there are a lot of perks. Classes, gym, pools, hot tubs. Every month there is one big party they provide all food, drink and entertainment. There are bus trips, golf trips and card and movie nights. All no charge. So I'll plant my flowers and hope they live.

Those birds are American Coots. They are not ducks, but they have webbed feet and act like ducks, paddling and diving in ponds.

Great explanation of the "rules" Carol and good attitude. I also like the idea of it being kept tidy (maybe not quite too picky)and with all the other perks sounds like a place I would like to live. Thanks for the post!
