I continue our adventure on Tuesday. I say adventure cause we never know where we are going and if we have the stamina to get there! The humidity really bothers me. I can walk 3 miles in Vegas in the high 60's with no problem but the humidity there is sometimes in the minus. Usually around 15 to 20%. Leaving the central market on way to ??? Seems there are a lot more beggars here this year than in the past.
Walking around the Cathedral. Trying to stay in the shade. The sky was sure blue that day.
There is an actual rope that come down to the ground to ring the bell. Every once in a while we are there at the right time to watch the priest pull the rope and ring the bell.
In the big plaza across the street from the church there are a lot of men who repair and shine shoes. Bill was asking him if he could dye a pair of my sandals. I have two brand new white pairs and I need a black pair. He said he could so have to remember to bring them next time we come to Centro. Years ago we had him dye a pair black. They just wore out.
Walking through the big plaza across from the street. Lots of benches to sit and relax in. Watching the people going by.
Getting his shoes shined.
The gazebo in the middle of the Plaza. Many years ago it had a restaurant under it.
This collects crush soda cansA vendors booth. Has a cute mural on it when not in use and closed up.
The government building. Notice how thick the walls are on the lower floor.
This ice cream stand has been in the same place and owned by the same family for over 80 years. When we first started coming here the building behind it was a big hardware store. It closed years ago. Glad to see that the building is in the process of being restored.
Walking along the front of the building under the construction work. Oh my goodness another building that has been restored since we were here two years ago. Will have to take better pictures of it next time we go by. I just took a picture of the sign, didn't notice what it said until I loaded it on the laptop. It is the new Pirate Museum. Going to have to check it out. It is on Angel Flores and Carnaval.
The utility boxes now have interesting art on them. Will have to check more of them out next time we are in Centro. The planters are new to us. They line all the sidewalks around Centro. About every 15 feet apart. Lovely plants in them.
This is parked in front of the Pirate Museum. Oh, I also see a plaque on the building, Need to remember to check it out next time. So many things I don't notice when I'm snapping pictures.
Outside the big parking garage.
This is very interesting, again outside of the parking garage. It is a whale made of driftwood. A lot of work there.
A closer look at all the little pieces it took to make it.
Another old vehicle outside the parking garage.
This is the parking lot we always used to park the jeep in. At one time it had a block wall that had chains around it that wrapped around the trees to keep the wall from falling down. Guess sometime in the last two years it finally came down.
One of my all time favorite buildings. When we were here two years ago the lower floor had been turned into an art gallery. Now it looks like the outside is being restored. Lots of history there.
The corner view of it. Beautiful isn't it.
Walking down the tree lined street to the Plazuela Machado. The trees are all blooming now. The yellow building where the clothes are hanging is amazing. Years ago we got a tour of the inside of it. It was in the process of being restored. Very beautiful inside. But after that never saw anyone using it. The flowers on the trees.
Still on same street the blue building across the street has no roof and is used as a parking garage.
Decorated trees outside a restaurant and hotel in the Plazuela Machado.
No idea just showed up one year a long time ago.
Empty plaza on a weekday with no cruise ships in.
Have more pictures of area but will save them for another day that we don't do too much. The Sphere in case you were missing it.
We did go out yesterday but not too far. Today Bill got his new front teeth. So far so good. He ate breakfast this morning with no problems.
