A short expensive day

And we finally got out of Amado. Got the car hooked up by 10:30 and were on the road again.

Tucson has sure grown up during the years. Seems like you are never going to get through it. At least the traffic was light. I really like the way they enhance their over passes. Pictures of a few of them.

Got through Tucson and continued north. Only a 150 mile day to Gila Bend. Weather was nice. Warmer and no wind. Good traveling day. We usually stop in Eloy for fuel but decided to get gas in Gila Bend instead. So passed exit 208 where the Flying J is. A couple of minutes later BANG  WAP WAP WAP. Crap know that sound, blew a tire. Bill pulled over as soon as it was safe. Sure enough passenger side inner back tire.
So very slowly drove on shoulder to next exit. Pulled off into a truck stop. That of course didn't carry tires. So Called FMCA Roadside Rescue about 12:30. They took all our info and said we'd hear from some one soon. About 15 minutes later we got a call. They would get to us in about an hour and a half. Okay. We were in a safe place (parked in the parking area of the Express Fuel truck parking area) so Bill fixed himself lunch. He barely finished it when a Goodyear truck showed up. By 2:30 we were back on the road. $450 poorer ... 260 for tire, 155 for mounting, and of course valve stem, disposal fee and taxes. And warranty.
So continued on to Gila Bend. This on one of the prettiest parts of the drive with all the big cactus and yellow flowers along the side of the road.
Stopped in Gila Bend Pilot for fuel. WOW sticker shock. And the sign is wrong it was actually 4.549 a gallon. Guess they can't keep their sign up to date any more. $105 for 23 gallons of unleaded.
So we are staying at Sonora Desert RV park. Very nice and clean place. Big wide long pull throughs.
$49 a night. Interesting little bush.

Got parked at 4:15. 155 miles. Oh well today is another day. Bill wants to replace the other rear inner tire before we get back on the road.
In Quartzsite now, uneventful day. More tomorrow.
