Friday we were out and about in Mazatlan.

Sitting in here last night watching the news and all of a sudden RAIN drops on the roof. Good thing the clear coat was finished on the hood. Today it will get polished and all the protecting paper will be taken off. Only rained for a few minutes and not much more than a drizzle. Today is another overcast day. Seems to be the norm for this year, the last couple of months anyway. This is the coolest winter we've ever spent here. Since middle of December it has been mostly in the mid to high 70s with one or two 80 days here and there.
And yesterday it was snowing in Las Vegas. How did we find out? The painter, Jamie, who was here putting the clear coat on the RV told us. He has friends in Vegas and they sent him pictures. And then later in the day we were in the Mall and the girl we know in one of the booths told us her sister lived in Vegas and it was snowing there. Small world.
While we've been hanging out in the campground I've taken a few pictures here. This plant is really growing, but the new leaves are a different color.
A couple of iguanas who hang out in the corner of the campground below an old boat being stored there.
They were shy and quick. Hard to catch the in a clear photo.
Some flowers on a strange bush next to the RV. Not part of our garden.
While the RV was getting the finish work done we headed towards the Centro Historico because the mural painter was going to be in demonstration paint off.
The Malecon is still being worked on. Going south towards old town. Landscaping the center divider. Driving here is always an adventure. Never know when a lane will be blocked - with no warning signs up. First indication is usually traffic in front of you slamming on their brakes.
Work on the sidewalk, sea wall and bike path continues.
Squeezed into a spot in the parking lot.
One of the many graffiti murals in the parking lot.
Just noticed the obnoxious yellow building next to the parking lot doesn't have a roof. Can see the sky looking through the upstairs window.
We walked from the parking lot to the bakery where we had breakfast.
Passed the Plazuela Machado on the way. They are painting the buildings there. From the lovely bright salmon [see upper right corner] to a dull ugly beige/gray. The town must have a whole boat load of ugly paint to get rid of.
This building was built in the 1904 and held a German Notions Store. Sold among other things watches, jewelry, furniture, musical instruments, hardware and farming and mining tools.
This is how it looked then.  During WWII the owner was forced to sell the store and leave Mexico.
Another pretty and older building across the street, no information about it.
A mural on the side of a building. Very intricate work.
Took these photos as we walked back towards where the art competition was being held. Again no info but nice old building. It appeared to be empty. So many are not used but the exterior is kept up.
Nice work on the upper floor above the windows.

Looks newly painted.

Notice the salmon color between the green around the windows.
Don't think remember ever seeing this building or the sign.
Another painted empty building. Most of the lamp posts now have flower pots on them. So far the flowers are thriving.
This one needs some TLC. It would be so fun to get a place like this and fix it modern inside and live in it.
Looking in through one of its windows.
Walking back to the art competition we passed the Museo Arqueologico - Archaeology Museum. It was getting painted. Yesterday it was white! Why am I not surprised.
 A piece of history.

The Museo de Arte where we were going is right across the street but will leave that until tomorrow because we sure aren't going to go do anything today. Really cold and windy out.
However the RV is finished as you can see by the header.
Polishing it.
 Removing the protecting paper.

And so it is done!

You'd better stay in Mexico for a while! It is cold here in Phoenix, also, although no snow, luckily. A couple of weeks ago, I put away my down comforter and got out my lighter weight cotton quilt, but today, I got my down comforter back out. Have my electric heater blowing on my feet with both front and back furnaces going! Brrrr.

Here in Mazatlan we are getting the outer edge of the cold. Much colder here than usual. And lots of cold wind from the north and off the ocean. I even cooked to warm up tonight.

Wow, that painting is one of a kind on an RV! Bill must be so happy with it.

Thanks for the lovely walking tour of Centro. I guess painting is on everyone's mind these days :). You have a very unique RV.

That new growth on your plant will change color over time.
